Background: To end the HIV and hepatitis C virus (HCV) epidemics, people who use drugs (PWUD) need more opportunities for testing. While inpatient hospitalizations are an essential opportunity to test people who use drugs (PWUD) for HIV and HCV, there is limited research on rates of inpatient testing for HIV and HCV among PWUD.
Methods: Eleven hospital sites were included in the study.

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a complex life-limiting genetic condition that affects the respiratory, digestive, reproductive system, and sweat glands. Advances in treatment have led to improved survival and quality of life. Today, most persons with CF live to adulthood but require highly specialized care at accredited CF Care Centers.

Glucagon-like peptide 1 receptor agonists (GLP-1 RAs) help manage type 2 diabetes (T2DM) and may have efficacy in steatotic liver disease. To determine the prevalence and clinical impact of GLP-1 RA use in patients with T2DM and liver disease. This was a retrospective study of adult patients with T2DM and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), nonalcoholic fatty liver (NAFL), or nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) between 1/1/21-12/31/21.

Introduction: The association between estrogen and hypercoagulability is well-established but little is known about coagulation dynamics during IVF. Our goal was to measure coagulation potential prior to, during, and following an IVF cycle and to investigate differences by conception outcome.
Materials And Methods: Patients undergoing IVF with fresh embryo transfer at a single academic center using oral contraceptive pills for cycle batching underwent evaluation of thrombin generation using the calibrated automated thrombogram at multiple points during the IVF cycle.

Neutropenic fever in adults undergoing chemotherapy for cancer treatment is a medical emergency and has been the focus of numerous studies. However, there is a paucity of data about non-chemotherapy induced neutropenic fever (non-CINF). We retrospectively reviewed 383 adults with neutropenic fever hospitalized at one academic medical center between October 2015 and September 2020 to characterize the frequency, causes, and outcomes of non-CINF.

The assessment of T-cell clonality by flow cytometry has long been suboptimal, relying on aberrant marker expression and/or intensity. The introduction of TRBC1 shows much promise for improving the diagnosis of T-cell neoplasms in the clinical flow laboratory. Most laboratories considering this marker already have existing panels designed for T-cell workups and will be determining how best to incorporate TRBC1.

Purpose: The most commonly used intervention for opioid overdoses is naloxone. With naloxone soon to be sold over-the-counter in the United States, the goal of this paper is to categorize frequently asked questions (FAQs) and answers about naloxone using internet sources in a cross-sectional fashion.
Methods: Terms "narcan" and "naloxone" were searched on a clean Google Chrome browser using the "People also asked" tab to find FAQs and their answer sources.

Obesity is a complex chronic disease and common comorbidity in kidney failure and is the leading causes of death and disability in this population. Guidelines do not specifically address the preferred weight management option(s) for obesity while on dialysis. Large body size is a limiting factor for consideration of a kidney transplantation.

RAD51 complex plays an important role in homologous recombination deficiency and germline mutations have a well-documented association with breast and tubo-ovarian carcinoma, as well as serous-type endometrial carcinoma. We report a family of French Canadian ancestry with a germline mutation in RAD51D and two sisters presenting with endometrial carcinoma, endometrioid-type. The risk factors for endometrial adenocarcinoma, endometrioid-type are discussed in the context of the RAD51-associated carcinomas described to date.

Background And Objectives: Dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is necessary to minimize the risk of periprocedural thromboembolic complications associated with aneurysm embolization using pipeline embolization device (PED). We aimed to assess the impact of platelet function testing (PFT) on reducing periprocedural thromboembolic complications associated with PED flow diversion in patients receiving aspirin and clopidogrel.
Methods: Patients with unruptured intracranial aneurysms requiring PED flow diversion were identified from 13 centers for retrospective evaluation.

Background: Simulated error training is a method to practice error detection in situations where the occurrence of error is low. Such is the case for the physics plan and chart review where a physicist may check several plans before encountering a significant problem. By simulating potentially hazardous errors, physicists can become familiar with how they manifest and learn from mistakes made during a simulated plan review.

In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) eliminated "oligoastrocytoma" from the classification of central nervous system (CNS) tumors, in favor of an integrated histologic and molecular diagnosis. Consistent with the 2016 classification, in the 2021 classification, oligodendrogliomas are defined by mutations in isocitrate dehydrogenase (IDH) with concurrent 1p19q codeletion, while astrocytomas are IDH mutant tumors, usually with ATRX loss. In 2007, a 24-year-old man presented with a brain tumor histologically described as astrocytoma, but with molecular studies consistent with an oligodendroglioma, IDH mutant and 1p19q-codeleted.

Background: Necrotizing enterocolitis (NEC) and spontaneous intestinal perforation (SIP) affect 6-8% of extremely low birth weight (ELBW) infants. SIP has lower mortality than NEC, but with similar short-term morbidity in length of stay, growth failure, and supplemental oxygen requirements. Comparative long-term neurodevelopmental outcomes have not been clarified.

Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) are observable clinical skills and/or procedures that have been introduced into medical education at the student and resident levels in most specialties to determine readiness to advance into residency or independent practice, respectively. This publication describes the process and outcomes of a pilot study looking at the feasibility of using two anatomic pathology and two clinical pathology EPAs in pathology residency in 6 pathology residency programs that volunteered for the study. Faculty development on EPAs and their assessment was provided to pilot program faculty, and EPA assessment tools were developed and used by the pilot programs.

Entrustable professional activities (EPAs) are observable activities that define the practice of medicine and provide a framework of evaluation that has been incorporated into US medical school curricula in both undergraduate and graduate medical education. This manuscript describes the development of an entrustment scale and formative and summative evaluations for pathology EPAs, outlines a process for faculty development that was employed in a pilot study implementing two Anatomic Pathology and two Clinical Pathology EPAs in volunteer pathology residency programs, and provides initial validation data for the proposed pathology entrustment scales. Prior to implementation, faculty development was necessary to train faculty on the entrustment scale for each given activity.

Given the prevalence of chronic coronary disease, efforts should be made toward risk factor modification. Cardiac rehabilitation is a secondary prevention program consisting of tailored exercise and lifestyle counseling and has been shown to not only reduce cardiovascular morbidity and mortality but also improve quality of life and exercise capacity. Despite the benefits, it remains underutilized.

Background: Recovery from anatomic shoulder arthroplasty may be enhanced in patients with good mental health and the resilience to participate in the prescribed postoperative rehabilitation program. To test this concept, we utilized validated and reliable scales in determining whether resilience and mental health are associated with the outcome of anatomic arthroplasty.
Methods: Three hundred ninety-nine patients (195 ream and run [RnR] and 204 anatomic total shoulder arthroplasty [aTSA]) were surveyed at a mean follow-up of 6.
