Background: To determine the impacts of statewide coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-related public health and social measures (PHSMs) and attempted pandemic mitigation measures on years of potential life lost (YPLL).

Methods: The "openness score" of each state during the COVID-19 pandemic was obtained using two open-source sites, the Multistate openness score and the Wallethub openness score. These scores combined various PHSMs, such as restrictions on gatherings and closing various types of businesses.

To address speech recognition challenges arising from the head shadow effect, a contralateral routing of signal (CROS) device can be used; however, less is known of the broader impact of a CROS device on an individual's quality of life (QoL) or that of their frequent communication partners (FCPs). This preliminary study aimed to evaluate the impact of CROS on speech recognition in noise and its influence on the QoL of unilateral CI recipients and their FCPs.

We assess trends in traffic combustion efficiency in Los Angeles (LA) and Salt Lake City (SLC) by measuring changes in summertime on-road CO/CO between 2013 and 2021 using mobile observations.
