Purpose: Human papillomavirus (HPV) and COVID-19 vaccination are both recommended for adolescents of ages 12-17. In May 2021, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices allowed the two vaccines to be administered concurrently.
Methods: We identified adolescents of ages 12-17 using electronic health records from a large integrated delivery system.

Objectives: Congenital human cytomegalovirus (cCMV) is a leading cause of pediatric hearing loss. Recent literature has suggested that valganciclovir (VGCV) therapy can improve hearing outcomes. The objective of this study was to evaluate the long-term hearing outcomes among symptomatic CMV patients treated with VGCV.

Unlabelled: Cardiopulmonary rehabilitation (CR) improves physical function and quality of life (QoL) in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart failure (HF), but it is unknown if CR improves outcomes in very severe disease. This study's purpose was to describe functional capacity (6-min walk distance [6MWD], steps/day), symptoms (dyspnea, depression), QoL (Short-Form Health Survey-Veterans [SF-36 V]) and cardiopulmonary function ( N-terminal pro-brain natriuretic peptide [NT-proBNP], forced expiratory volume in 1 s [FEV]), and derive predictors of mortality among patients with severe COPD and HF who participated in CR.
Methods And Results: In this secondary analysis of a randomized controlled trial comparing two CR methods in severe COPD and HF, 90 (COPD = 63, HF = 27) male veterans, mean age 66 ± 9.

Background: Computer clinical decision support (CDS) systems are uncommon in the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU), despite evidence suggesting they improve outcomes in adult ICUs. We reasoned that a bedside CDS protocol for intravenous insulin titration, eProtocol-insulin, would be feasible and safe in critically ill children.
Methods: We retrospectively reviewed data from non-diabetic children admitted to the PICU with blood glucose (BG) ≥140 mg/dL who were managed with intravenous insulin by either unaided clinician titration or eProtocol-insulin.
Background: As the retirement rate of senior nursing faculty increases, the need to implement new models for providing mentorship to early career academics will become key to developing and maintaining an experienced faculty.
Purpose: This evaluation of a peer mentorship program for predoctoral and postdoctoral gerontological nurses examined its efficacy, utility, and potential for improvement.
Methods: A web-based survey was developed, implemented, and completed by 22 mentees and 17 mentors (71% and 61% response rates, respectively) as part of the evaluation.

Objective: Hypobaric hypoxia decreases exercise capacity and causes hypoxic pulmonary vasoconstriction and pulmonary hypertension. The phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitor sildenafil is a pulmonary vasodilator that may improve exercise capacity at altitude. We aimed to determine whether sildenafil improves exercise capacity, measured as maximal oxygen consumption (peak V̇o2), at moderate altitude in adults 60 years or older.

This paper is the report of the first phase of a case study from the University of Utah to help students and faculty integrate electronic information management into the nursing curriculum. Cerner AES, a live-production clinical information system with an academic overlay, has been implemented into the first semester of an undergraduate nursing program. A consortium of schools that use Cerner AES collaborate in the design and implementation of forms used by students.
