Body size, bill length and shape determine foraging techniques, habitat selection and diet among shorebirds. In this study, water depth preferences of different shorebirds with different bill sizes in various habitats including mudflats, mangroves at Kadalundi-Vallikkunnu Community Reserve (KVCR) (19 shorebird species) and adjacent agroecosystems at Vazhakkad (12 species) were studied between 2017 and 2020. The bill length of the shorebirds was significantly and positively associated with the average water depth, where shorebirds were observed to forage.

Laboratory of Genetics Immunology and Human Pathology, Biology Department, Faculty of Sciences of Tunis, University of Tunis el Manar, Tunis, Tunisia. Electronic address:

Systemic sclerosis (SSc), a rare and lethal autoimmune disorder where patients presents diverse clinical features, therefore unravelling a potential biomarker within a specific cohort is crucial for improving patient care, especially for rare diseases. This study sought to identify potential biomarkers in Tunisian SSc patients. Gene expression analysis of interleukins (IL)-21 and IL-22 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells, using quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction (qrt-pcr), revealed upregulated IL-21 and downregulated IL-22 in SSc patients compared to healthy controls.

A new double perovskite phase, Sr(SnSbIn)O, was successfully synthesized a solid-state reaction and comprehensively characterized using both experimental and theoretical techniques. Powder X-ray diffraction was used to determine the crystal structure, while scanning electron microscopy (SEM) revealed a high degree of densification and uniform grain distribution across the ceramic. Raman and Fourier-transform infrared (FTIR) absorption spectra of the powder present broad bands predominantly due to different stretching modes of the various SnO , InO and SbO octahedra in the region = 400-800 cm.

A hybrid LSTM random forest model with grey wolf optimization for enhanced detection of multiple bearing faults.

Sci Rep

October 2024

Department of Theoretical Electrical Engineering and Diagnostics of Electrical Equipment, Institute of Electrodynamics, National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, Beresteyskiy, 56, Kyiv-57, 03680, Ukraine.

Bearing degradation is the primary cause of electrical machine failures, making reliable condition monitoring essential to prevent breakdowns. This paper presents a novel hybrid model for the detection of multiple faults in bearings, combining Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) networks with random forest (RF) classifiers, further enhanced by the Grey Wolf Optimization (GWO) algorithm. The proposed approach is structured in three stages: first, time and frequency domain features are manually extracted from vibration signals; second, these features are processed by a dual-layer LSTM network, which is specifically designed to capture complex temporal relationships within the data; finally, the GWO algorithm is employed to optimize feature selection from the LSTM outputs, feeding the most relevant features into the RF classifier for fault classification.

Background: Managing postoperative setting, regarding pain and anxiety after cesarean delivery is crucial for the mother's recovery, her emotional well-being, mother-infant bonding and initiating breastfeeding. Although some research have suggested that aromatherapy with lavender essential oil can be effective in reducing pain and anxiety in various medical settings, the efficacy of lavender aromatherapy in the postoperative setting after cesarean delivery is less well-studied. We aimed to assess the effectiveness of lavender essential oil therapy in the management of pain and anxiety after cesarean delivery.

Vancomycin-resistant enterococci (VRE) are a public health concern as they lead to therapeutic impasses and play a pivotal role in the dissemination of vancomycin resistance genes. As recent evidence suggests that wildlife can play a role in the dissemination of bacterial resistomes, this study explored the potential role of Algerian wild birds as a reservoir of VRE. A total of 222 cloacal and fecal samples were collected from various wild bird species and screened for VRE using a selective medium.
