Electrolyte solutions containing Fe/Fe are suitable for liquid thermoelectric conversion devices (LTEs), because they are inexpensive materials and exhibit a high electrochemical Seebeck coefficient . Here, we investigated the concentration () dependence of resistance components, , solvent (), charge-transfer (), and diffusion () resistances, of dissolved-Fe/Fe-containing aqueous, methanol (MeOH), acetone, and propylene carbonate (PC) solutions. We found that the dependence of and are well reproduced by empirical formulas, and , where () is viscosity at .

Article Synopsis
  • The study analyzed the effectiveness and safety of five SGLT2 inhibitors across different patient backgrounds, specifically focusing on cardiovascular death and hospitalizations for heart failure as primary outcomes.
  • It included data from 21 randomized controlled trials with nearly 100,000 participants, revealing that while most SGLT2 inhibitors had similar efficacy, empagliflozin and dapagliflozin showed lower risks of acute kidney injury compared to sotagliflozin.
  • The findings suggest that there are no major differences in safety outcomes among the SGLT2 inhibitors, but empagliflozin may be particularly beneficial for patients without chronic kidney disease, indicating a need for further research.

Proton (H) release is linked to aluminum (Al)-enhanced organic acids (OAs) excretion from the roots under Al rhizotoxicity in plants. It is well-reported that the Al-enhanced organic acid excretion mechanism is regulated by SENSITIVE TO PROTON RHIZOTOXICITY1 (STOP1), a zinc-finger TF that regulates major Al tolerance genes. However, the mechanism of H release linked to OAs excretion under Al stress has not been fully elucidated.

Despite growing awareness of the importance of monitoring wild crop pollinators worldwide, there are still few reports, especially in East Asia. Considering ongoing global warming may change the distribution range and diurnal activity of pollinators, it is necessary to describe current geographic and diurnal patterns. We clarified pollinators of Duchesne (Cucurbitales: Cucurbitaceae) in three geographically distinct (>350 km, minimum) areas in Japan, focusing on diurnal variation.

The impacts of renewable energy shifting, passenger car electrification, and lightweighting through 2050 on the atmospheric concentrations of PM total mass and oxidative stress-inducing metals (PM-Fe, Cu, and Zn) in Japan were evaluated using a regional meteorology-chemistry model. The surface concentrations of PM total mass, Fe, Cu, and Zn in the urban area decreased by 8%, 13%, 18%, and 5%, respectively. Battery electric vehicles (BEVs) have been considered to have no advantage in terms of non-exhaust PM emissions by previous studies.

Animal-mediated pollination is an essential ecosystem service for the production of many fruit trees. To reveal the community composition of flower-visiting wild insects which potentially contribute to fruit production and to examine the effects of geographic location, local meteorological conditions and locally introduced domesticated pollinators on them, we investigated the community composition of insects visiting the flowers (hereafter, "visitors") of apple, Japanese pear and Oriental persimmon for 1‒3 years at 20 sites around Japan. While most of the variation (82%) of the community composition was explained by tree species with a slight contribution by geographic distance (2%), maximum temperature and tree species contributed 62% and 41% of the variation in total abundance of the visitors, respectively.

Article Synopsis
  • The study examines the clinical outcomes and left ventricular (LV) function recovery after transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI) in patients with low-gradient (LG) aortic stenosis (AS), highlighting ongoing controversies in the prognostic implications of TAVI in these patients.
  • It involved a retrospective analysis of 1,742 patients, finding that LG AS was linked to worse outcomes and lower improvements in LV function compared to high-gradient (HG) AS, with 13% having reduced ejection fraction.
  • The research suggests that careful assessment of AS severity is crucial for optimal timing and management of TAVI in patients with LG AS, as they experienced higher rates of cardiovascular death and rehospitalization.

Aim: We attempted to convert a simulation course held on-site for primary care physicians to learn about the initial treatment of minor emergencies, including some common surgical procedures, to an online format.

Methods: We reviewed the subjects covered in the course and evaluated whether it was "decision-making" or "technical skills" that had been primarily taught as simulation-based training for each subject, and then supplemented the contents accordingly.

Results: As a result, satisfaction levels with the online course were comparable to those with the on-site course as measured by a postcourse questionnaire (97.

This study represents a green synthesis method for fabricating an oxygen evolution reaction (OER) electrode by depositing two-dimensional CuFeO on nickel foam (NF). Two-dimensional CuFeO was deposited on NF using hydrothermal synthesis in the presence of extract. This phytochemical-assisted synthesis of CuFeO resulted in a unique nano-rose-like morphology (petal diameter 30-70 nm), which significantly improved the electrochemical surface area of the electrode.
