Current studies have demonstrated that exercise increases regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), an index of neuronal activity. However, neuronal regulation of the increased rCBF in the brain parenchyma is poorly understood. A critical issue in adenovirus (Ad)-based cancer gene therapy is to improve the specificity of gene delivery to cancer cells for better efficacy and safety. We explored methods of retargeting Ad vectors for selective gene therapy of human biliary cancers using the Ad incorporating an IgG Fc-binding motif (Z33) from the Staphylococcus protein A (Ad-FZ33) combined with tumor-specific antibodies. Brain glycogen could be a critical energy source for brain activity when the glucose supply from the blood is inadequate (hypoglycaemia). Although untested, it is hypothesized that during prolonged exhaustive exercise that induces hypoglycaemia and muscular glycogen depletion, the resultant hypoglycaemia may cause a decrease in brain glycogen. Noninvasive identification of nonculprit lesions could improve preventive strategies for acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
