This study investigates the fabrication and characterization of n-FeS/p-Si heterojunction photodetectors using chemical bath deposition (CBD) at deposition temperatures ranging from 50 °C to 80 °C. The impact of temperature on the structural, morphological, and optical properties of FeS thin films was evaluated. X-ray diffraction (XRD) revealed polycrystalline cubic FeS with improved crystallinity as the deposition temperature increased.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study aimed to analyze the testicular morphology and histology of local pigeons at different maturation stages to gain insight into their reproductive health.
  • - Results showed that the testis retains an oval shape and exhibits size differences between the left and right sides, with significant histological changes occurring from pre-puberty (smaller with collapsed tubules) to post-puberty (larger, closely packed tubules with mature cells).
  • - The findings emphasize the importance of understanding testicular structure changes in pigeons to assess male reproductive system complexity and the role of sex hormones and various cell types in testicular function.

The results of the preparation of protective shields from ionizing radiation, flame retardant from pure epoxy supported by nano-bismuth oxide, show that the protective shields supported by nanoparticles improve the attenuation properties, the thermal stability, the flame retardancy and mechanical properties. Also, the polymeric shield supported by BiO (NaCO) retardant the flame much better than supported by BiO (NaOH). Finally, the quality of the protective shields increased as the energy of the photons of the ionizing rays decreased.

  • The study investigates the levels of vaspin in pregnant women with gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM) to see its link with insulin resistance and various lipid profiles.
  • It involved 90 women, with 60 diagnosed with GDM and 30 as a control group, measuring several blood parameters via techniques like ELISA and colourimetry.
  • Results indicated that vaspin and insulin levels were significantly higher in GDM patients, but there was no correlation found between vaspin and indicators of insulin resistance or lipid profiles.

The Ora Formation (late Devonian-early Carboniferous) is thought to be a potential source rocks for the Paleozoic petroleum system of Iraq. The source potential from the Ora Formation is evaluated for the first time ever in this study from western and northern Iraq which integrates data from organic geochemistry including Total Organic Carbon (TOC) analysis, HAWK pyrolysis, gas chromatography (GC), and gas chromatography mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and mineralogical X-ray diffraction and scanning electron microscopy. The shale and muddy carbonate succession within the Ora Formation from surface section in northernmost Iraq and subsurface section from two wells (Akkas-1 and Akkas -3) from western Iraq have been employed to assess the source rock potentiality, thermal maturity, kerogen type, organic content, and depositional environment.

Background: Fish producers in Iraq currently facing large and growing problems, represented by the difficulty of getting rid of large numbers of dead fish as a result of mass phenomenon mortality since 2018. As their treatment and disposal have become very cumbersome and costly, and leaving it to wild animals and natural forces is unacceptable, so most of them resort to the composting method because it is a simple, easy, and inexpensive process and benefits outputs, but it takes a long time.

Aim: The study aimed to compare two different composting methods for the disposal of dead fish, one of them includes the use of lactic acid bacilli (LAB) to improve composting efficiency.

Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are highly reactive molecules generated in living organisms and an excessive production of ROS culminates in oxidative stress and cellular damage. Notably, oxidative stress plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of a number of oral mucosal diseases, including oral mucositis, which remains one of cancer treatments' most common side effects. We have shown previously that oral keratinocytes are remarkably sensitive to oxidative stress, and this may hinder the development and reproducibility of epithelial cell-based models of oral disease.
