Objective: Endovascular intracranial aneurysm (IA) management has significantly evolved over the last 2 decades. Despite these advancements, the aneurysm recanalization rate after coil embolization remains a concern. Statins have been found to affect vascular repair and remodeling; therefore, the authors hypothesized that patients receiving statin therapy at the time of coil embolization would have lower aneurysm recurrence and retreatment rates compared with patients not receiving statin therapy.

Research shows that person-centered statistics are useful for identifying coping profiles in adolescents and adults, including college students, where such studies are limited. This study aimed to discern coping profiles among American college students and examine associations with mental health outcomes. Participants completed the Brief COPE inventory, Depression, Anxiety, and Stress scale - 21 items (DASS-21), and a demographics form.

Background: Guideline-based therapy (GBT) for Mycobacterium abscessus (Mab) lung disease achieves sputum culture conversion rates (SCC) of 35%. This poor GBT efficacy is mirrored in the hollow fiber system model of Mab (HFS-Mab). While imipenem is part of GBT, biological effect with or without β-lactamase inhibitors, is unproven.

Performing a pancreaticoduodenectomy (PD) in patients having undergone a Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RNYGB) poses a significant surgical challenge. We present a patient with a history of RNYGB and endoscopic ultrasound-directed transgastric ERCP (EDGE) procedure who underwent a successful PD. This 77-year-old female with history of open RNYBG presented with resectable pancreatic adenocarcinoma.

Background: The shortage of nursing faculty has made the competence of academic clinical nurse educators (ACNE) crucial for effectively educating and evaluating nursing students. Many nursing faculty members are hired without specific training in nursing education or necessary skills, impacting the quality of future nurses.
Aim: This study aimed to define the competence of the ACNE by using Walker and Avant's concept analysis method.

Background: Success in completing an RN to BSN program largely depends on program quality, flexibility, and accessibility, as well as faculty ability to help students navigate several complex factors. Research specific to the RN-BSN student experience suggests that faculty teaching in RN-BSN programs must be respectful of diverse learners' needs, mindful to avoid bias and reduce stigma, and capable in creating equitable learning spaces. Faculty must also make content relevant to support immediate use by students in the workplace.

The genomes of mitochondria and chloroplasts contain ribosomal RNA (rRNA) genes, reflecting their ancestry as free-living bacteria. These organellar rRNAs are often amplified in microbiome studies of animals and plants. If identified, they can be discarded, merely reducing sequencing depth.

Several research studies have demonstrated the potential use of cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers such as amyloid beta 1-42, T-tau, and P-tau, in early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease stages. The levels of these biomarkers in conjunction with the dementia rating scores are used to empirically differentiate the dementia patients from normal controls. In this work, we evaluated the performance of standard machine learning classifiers using cerebrospinal fluid biomarker levels as the features to differentiate dementia patients from normal controls.

Patients with psychogenic non-epileptic attacks (PNEA) are subject to considerable direct and indirect comorbid psycho-socio-economic impact from their condition. Fortunately, diagnosis and treatment of PNEA has shown to be both medically effective and cost-efficient, ultimately improving PNEA symptoms, mental health, quality of life, and healthcare resource utilization. Though provocation techniques for PNEA have proven highly effective in diagnosing and providing expedited treatment to these patients, they have recently begun to fall out of favor due to ethical concerns about their use.

Background: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a rapidly growing and evolving field impacting pharmacy research, education, and professional practice. The development and adaptation of AI technologies have the potential to radically shape the future of the pharmacy profession. However, it remains unclear how aware pharmacists are of these technologies or their perceptions regarding current and future utilization.

Our approach involves the development of a noninvasive skin patch capable of monitoring skin temperature, sweat pH, cortisol levels, and corresponding EMG signals using a combination of physical and electrochemical sensors integrated with EMG electrodes. StressFit was optimized by enhancing sensor output and mechanical resilience for practical application on curved body surfaces, ensuring accurate acquisition of cortisol, pH, body temperature, and EMG data without sensor interference.

Background: The effectiveness of pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) and non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis (nPEP) in preventing HIV is well-established, yet their use in clinical practice remains low. Healthcare providers, especially those in primary and emergency care settings, play a crucial role in adopting and implementing these prevention strategies. We conducted a statewide survey with 519 healthcare providers in Texas to assess their knowledge, practices, and barriers related to prescribing PrEP and nPEP.

It is necessary to accurately capture the growth trajectory of fluorescence where the best fit, precision, and relative efficiency are essential. Having this in mind, a new family of growth functions called TWW (Tabatabai, Wilus, Wallace) was introduced. This model is capable of accurately analyzing quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR).

Introduction: Asbestos workers have a higher risk of developing mesothelioma; however, few studies have looked at specific jobs and job locations within asbestos factories. The purpose of this study was to investigate asbestos exposure in different job locations of the Tyler, Texas asbestos plant to determine if there was a relationship between the duration of exposure and air fiber concentration burden in workers who developed pleural versus peritoneal mesothelioma.
Methods: This study used a patient information database to compile secondary data on 23 workers who died from mesothelioma through 2011.

Precision medicine aims to provide personalized clinical care guided by tools that reflect underlying pathophysiology. The need for such an approach has never been greater in cardiovascular medicine, given the large number of guideline-directed medical therapies available. However, progress has been modest to date with few precision tools available for clinicians.

This dataset provides information from a study that validates a method for non-invasive urine collection utilizing sodium polyacrylate-based diapers, designed for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) detection of uropathogens. The dataset includes samples from 17 participants, comprising seven clinically contrived samples inoculated with known uropathogens and ten samples collected from volunteers wearing sodium polyacrylate-based diapers. The study involved optimizing urine extraction from the diaper matrices, ensuring minimal loss of diagnostic sensitivity for downstream quantitative PCR (qPCR) analysis.

Thermal bleaching, or the loss of symbiotic algae that provide most energetic resources for the coral host, is an increasing threat to reefs worldwide and is projected to worsen with climate change. While bleaching is a well-recognized threat, the impact on the process of reproduction in bleaching survivors is not well resolved, despite being central to coral resilience. Montipora capitata can survive bleaching while completing a full gametogenic cycle, offering an ideal system to study gametogenic resilience and physiological tradeoffs.
