Research on endogenous auditory spatial attention typically uses headphones or sounds in the frontal hemispace, which undersamples panoramic spatial hearing. Crossmodal attention studies also show that visual information impacts spatial hearing and attention. Given the overlap between vision and audition in frontal space, we tested the hypothesis that the distribution of endogenous auditory spatial attention would differ when attending to the front versus back hemispace.

Sexual assault victimization experience and alcohol consumption are well-documented HIV risk factors for women who have sex with men (WSM). Nonetheless, behavioral mechanisms of the synergistic effects of these factors on women's increased HIV risk are not well delineated. This study is the first to examine the interactive effects of sexual assault history and acute intoxication on women's condom negotiation behavior during a face-to-face role-play with a male actor.

Health care transition, the process of moving from pediatric to adult health care, is crucial for the long-term health outcomes of adolescents and young adults. Previous research indicates rural adolescents and young adults often have greater unmet medical and financial needs, affecting their transition experiences, but there was no study focusing on rural autistic adolescents and young adults' health care transition experiences.

Brain deformation caused by a head impact leads to traumatic brain injury (TBI). The maximum principal strain (MPS) was used to measure the extent of brain deformation and predict injury, and the recent evidence has indicated that incorporating the maximum principal strain rate (MPSR) and the product of MPS and MPSR, denoted as MPS × SR, enhances the accuracy of TBI prediction. However, ambiguities have arisen about the calculation of MPSR.

Background: The independent associations of physical activity (PA), sleep duration (SL), and screen time (ST) with health outcome measures have been well-documented among children and adolescents, but not in youth with moderate/severe ADHD. To this end, the present study aimed to investigate the associations between three components within 24-hour movement behaviour (24-HMB) framework and core symptoms and school engagement in youth with moderate/severe ADHD.
Methods: This study used pooled data from the 2021-2022 U.

Electrical Interference (EI: radiated electromagnetic and/or power line interference) is a common problem in clinical neurophysiology with many causes and thus various conceivable solutions. Although newer digitized electrodiagnostic (EDX) systems have markedly reduced EI issues, it remains a possible impediment in achieving high quality studies. So that the electrodiagnostic medicine consultant (EMC) can problem solve EI, this monograph details the fundamental functional concepts and terminology of electronic amplification and recording electrodes from a practical perspective.

Despite chronic fibrosis occurring in many pathological conditions, few in vitro studies examine how fibrosis impacts lymphatic endothelial cell (LEC) behavior. This study examined stiffening profiles of PhotoCol-commercially available methacrylated type I collagen-photo-crosslinked with the photoinitiators: Lithium phenyl-2,4,6-trimethylbenzoylphosphinate (LAP), Irgacure 2959 (IRG), and Ruthenium/Sodium Persulfate (Ru/SPS) prior to evaluating PhotoCol permeability and LEC response to PhotoCol at stiffnesses representing normal and fibrotic tissues. Ru/SPS produced the highest stiffness (~6 kilopascal (kPa)) for photo-crosslinked PhotoCol, but stiffness did not change with burst light exposures (30 and 90 s).

Fungal infections are serious complications after solid organ transplantation, with high mortality and morbidity. Given the importance of the local epidemiological data and also extensive prophylactic regimens in solid organ transplant (SOT) recipients, this study aimed to investigate the clinical characteristics and resistance patterns of yeast isolates in SOT recipients at a main referral transplant center in Iran. Of the 275 recipients enrolled, 22 (8%) had at least one positive yeast culture at a median of 5 days after transplantation.

This commentary on a case identifies how hostile design choices perpetuate spatial injustice in both health care settings and the surrounding community and argues that health care organizations have duties to mitigate adverse health consequences of such spatial injustices. This commentary then describes strategies for identifying overt and covert hostile design of health care spaces and proposes future practices and translational research to make health care environments' designs accessible, approachable, and more just.

Job advertisements (ads) represent the first point of contact between employers and job seekers. By signaling characteristics expected of an ideal candidate, job ads "gatekeep" the labor force and configure its composition. Meanwhile, labor force composition can also shape the wording of job ads.

Free-living aquatic nematodes are abundant, diverse and of general environmental importance. However, knowledge of species distributions of both marine and freshwater nematodes is sparse. Species distribution data are crucial for evaluating environmental impacts from human activities and to conduct integrated nematode community assessments.

Mechanical loading, essential for bone health, promotes bone formation and remodeling. However, the positive response diminishes in cases of disuse and aging, leading to bone loss and an increased fracture risk. This study demonstrates that activating hemichannels (HCs) using a connexin 43 (Cx43) antibody, Cx43(M2), in bone osteocytes revitalizes aging and disused bones.

Background: While the association between depressive symptoms and deliberate self-harm in adolescence is extensively documented, the nature, bi-directionality, and longitudinal dynamics of this relationship remain underexplored. This study aims to investigate the causal and reciprocal relationship between depressive symptoms and deliberate self-harm among rural adolescents in western China.
Methods: A 2-year panel study was conducted among 1,840 adolescents aged 10-18 attending rural junior and senior high schools in Sichuan Province, China.

Introduction: Health provider burnout is highly prevalent (28-51%) in the US and may contribute to a projected national health provider shortage by 2030. The Socioecological Model (SEM) is a proven conceptual framework used to identify influencing factors and design relevant solutions to improve health outcomes across multiple ecological levels. This study applied the SEM to identify modifiable drivers and solutions of burnout across multiple levels among US Military health providers.

Yet, as argued here and elsewhere, the metacognitive practice of being honest with oneself may be among the most crucial concomitants of psychological growth and change. Consequently, drawing on theory and research from across several disciplines, this paper proposes a novel framework for understanding and measuring self-honesty as a core value.

Edge devices operating in dynamic environments critically need the ability to continually learn without catastrophic forgetting. The strict resource constraints in these devices pose a major challenge to achieve this, as continual learning entails memory and computational overhead. Crossbar architectures using memristor devices offer energy efficiency through compute-in-memory and hold promise to address this issue.

Overexpression of the anti-apoptotic protein BCL-2 is a key factor in the pathogenesis of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and is associated with poor clinical outcomes. Therapeutic activation of apoptosis in cancer cells using the BCL-2 inhibitor (BCL2i) venetoclax has shown remarkable efficacy in clinical trials, both as monotherapy and combination regimens. However, patients with CLL experience a highly variable clinical course, facing significant challenges in advanced stages due to disease relapse and the emergence of resistant clones.
