Anti-leucine-rich glioma-inactivated 1 limbic encephalitis (anti-LGI1 LE) is a rare autoimmune limbic encephalitis with a potentially misleading presentation that can delay diagnosis and treatment. The incremental progression of widely variable symptoms with a prominent behavioral disturbance can conceal the disease and prompt an initial psychiatric diagnosis. Although specific MRI findings ought to be evident by the time the disease progresses to frank limbic encephalitis, it appears inconsistent and ill-defined and is thus unreliable.

Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) is a chatbot based on a large language model that has gained public interest since its release in November 2022. This systematic review examines the current literature on the potential applications of ChatGPT in cardiology. A systematic literature search was conducted to retrieve all publications on ChatGPT in PubMed, Scopus, MedRxiv, and the Cochrane Library published on or before September 30, 2023.

Impaired metabolism is recognized as an important contributor to pathogenicity of T cells in (SLE). Over the last two decades, we have acquired significant knowledge about the signaling and transcriptomic programs related to metabolic rewiring in healthy and SLE T cells. However, our understanding of metabolic network activity derives largely from studying metabolic pathways in isolation.

Medulloblastoma (MB) is the most common malignant pediatric brain tumor. Previous studies have elucidated the genomic landscape of MB leading to the recognition of four core molecular subgroups (WNT, SHH, group 3 and group 4) with distinct clinical outcomes. Group 3 has the worst prognosis of all MB.

Due to the complexity of liver transplant patients and the variability in exposure to transplantation by anesthesia trainees, simulation is often required as an adjunct to clinical experience. This systematic review identifies current simulation models in the literature that pertain to perioperative liver transplant anesthesia. Data were collected by performing an electronic search of the PubMed and Scopus databases for articles describing simulation in transplant anesthesia.

Introduction: Discrepancy between osteopathic (DO) and allopathic (MD) graduates in general surgery spans across all levels of training. In this cross-sectional study, we characterized DO surgeons who serve as faculty at university-based general surgery departments.
Methods: Overall, 106 university-based surgery departments were reviewed.

Objective: This study aims at investigating the potential prognostic significance of the breast immune prognostic index (BIPI) in breast cancer patients who received neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT).
Methods: The optimal cutoff value was calculated through the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). The correlations between BIPI and clinicopathologic characteristics were determined by the chi-square test or Fisher's exact test.

Aortic diseases requiring surgery in childhood are distinctive and rare. Very few reports in the literature account for the occurrence of multiple thoracic aortic aneurysms in the same pediatric patient because of a genetic cause. We report a rare occurrence of severe thoracic aortic aneurysms (involving the ascending, arch and descending aortic segments) with severe aortic insufficiency in a 7-year-old female child secondary to the extremely rare and often lethal genetic disorder, cutis laxa.

: lipogenesis (DNL) plays a major role in fatty acid metabolism and contributes significantly to triglyceride accumulation within the hepatocytes in patients with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) converts acetyl-CoA to malonyl CoA and is a rate-controlling step in DNL. Furthermore, malonyl-CoA is an important regulator of hepatic mitochondrial fat oxidation through its ability to inhibit carnitine palmitoyltransferase I.

Objectives: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is common; however, no information is available on how pediatric gastroenterologists in the United States manage NAFLD. Therefore, study objectives were to understand how pediatric gastroenterologists in the US approach the management of NAFLD, and to identify barriers to care for children with NAFLD.
Methods: We performed structured one-on-one interviews to ascertain each individual pediatric gastroenterologist's approach to the management of NAFLD in children.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is the most common form of chronic liver disease in the United States affecting 80-100 million Americans. NAFLD encompasses a spectrum of diseases ranging from excess liver fat (nonalcoholic fatty liver or NAFL), to necro-inflammation (nonalcoholic steatohepatitis or NASH), to fibrosis/ cirrhosis, and malignant transformation (hepatocellular carcinoma). Susceptibility to NAFLD is highly variable and it remains unclear why some patients with NAFLD exhibit NASH, whereas patients with known risk factors have NAFL only.

Direct acting antivirals (DAAs) have revolutionized the treatment of chronic hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection with cure rates >90% for the majority of patients and excellent safety profile. However, there remain certain unmet needs in treating HCV including treatment for patients that failed a prior DAA regimen and for those with advanced chronic kidney disease. In addition, shortening the duration of DAA regimens has the potential to increase compliance and decrease the cost of care.
