Multifunctional Organic Polymer Laboratory, Future Convergence Engineering, School of Energy, Materials and Chemical Engineering, Korea University of Technology and Education, 1600, Chungjeol-ro, Cheonan, 31253, Republic of Korea.

Coupling piezo-active and triboelectric materials has recently emerged as an effective technique for developing high-performance hybrid nanogenerators (HNGs). This is the first paper to report the fabrication of piezo-active poly(vinylidene fluoride-hexafluoropropylene)(PVDF-HFP)/MXene-based hybrid composite fibers through conventional electrospinning. Here, the effect of MXene content (1-5%) on the surface potential and electrical performance of the as-synthesized composites is investigated and optimized.

EHNet: Efficient Hybrid Network with Dual Attention for Image Deblurring.

Sensors (Basel)

October 2024

School of Electronic Engineering, Soongsil University, Seoul 06978, Republic of Korea.

The motion of an object or camera platform makes the acquired image blurred. This degradation is a major reason to obtain a poor-quality image from an imaging sensor. Therefore, developing an efficient deep-learning-based image processing method to remove the blur artifact is desirable.

This work proposes a methodology to determine the height difference of the guideways of machine tools where two guideways are not placed on the same horizontal plane. Firstly, a rigid-flexible coupling system consisting of a moving rigid mass and an elastic overhanging beam is presented as an equivalent mechanical model of a column and a spindle box. Then, the relationship between the deviation of a reference point and the height difference or the spindle box's stroke is modeled.

This study investigates the complex interplay between organizationally prescribed perfectionism (OPP), job insecurity, counterproductive work behavior (CWB), and self-efficacy in learning artificial intelligence (AI) in the context of modern organizations. Based on several theories, the current research suggests and tests a moderated mediation model. Using a three-wave time-lagged design with data collected from 412 workers across various South Korean corporations, we examine how OPP influences CWB both directly and indirectly through job insecurity, and how self-efficacy in AI learning moderates the OPP-job insecurity link.

Metallic nanowire-based transparent conductors (MNTCs) are essential to various technologies, including displays, heat-regulating windows, and photo-communication. Hybrid configurations are primarily adopted to design stable, high-functioning MNTCs. Although hybrid MNTCs enhance electrical performance, they often suffer from optical degradation due to losses associated with the hybrid layers.

This study explores the synthesis, characterization, and photocatalytic properties of bismuth metal-organic framework (Bi-MOF) nanorods and their derivatives such as Ag/Bi-MOF and Ag/BiO. Bi-MOF nanorods exhibit significant photocatalytic activity under visible light, with the addition of silver (Ag) enhancing electron-hole pair separation and reducing their recombination. This leads to improved photocatalytic performance, particularly in the degradation of organic pollutants such as Rhodamine B (RhB) and Methylene Blue (MB).

Industrial Energy R&D Department, Research Institute of Sustainable Development Technology, Korea Institute of Industrial Technology, 89 Yangdaegiro-gil, Ipjang-myeon, Seobuk-gu, Cheonan-si, 31056, Chungcheongnam-do, Republic of Korea.

In this study, we analyzed the performance characteristics of an axial flow pump with different angles of internally installed inlet guide vanes (IGVs). We predicted the pump's performance based on changes in the IGV angle and analyzed the impact of these angle variations on pump operation in the low-flow region. Additionally, we used real operational data from two sewage treatment plants to propose efficient operational scenarios.

The hydrogels got hot attention from the researchers due to their excellent flexibility, mechanical properties, conductivity, and response to external stimuli, however, their applications are hampered due to a lack of water retention properties and anti-freezing ability. In this study, the organohydrogel was designed from the two solvents system (DMSO and water) in which acrylamide (Amm) and acrylic acid (AA) work as monomers and Arabic gum (AG) works as biopolymers. The functional groups, surface morphology, mechanical properties, rheological properties, anti-freezing properties, and strain-sensing properties of the fabricated organohydrogel were studied.

Department of Information and Communication Engineering, Korea University of Technology and Education (KOREATECH), Cheonan-si 31253, Republic of Korea.

In this study, we propose a novel rectification method for three cameras using a single image for depth estimation. Stereo rectification serves as a fundamental preprocessing step for disparity estimation in stereoscopic cameras. However, off-the-shelf depth cameras often include an additional RGB camera for creating 3D point clouds.

In this paper, a fast positioning platform (FPP) is proposed, able to meet simultaneously the requirements of large stroke and high frequency response, developed based on a PZT (piezoelectric actuator) and a quad-parallel flexible mechanism, for application in precision machining. The FPP is driven by a high-stiffness PZT and guided by a flexible hinge-based mechanism with a quad-parallel flexible hinge. The proposed quad-parallel flexible hinge mechanism can provide excellent planar motion capability with high stiffness and good guiding performance, thus guaranteeing outstanding dynamics characteristics.

This work investigated the impact of chicken egg size, including surface area and initial weight, on the effectiveness of cassava starch-based gel coating during storage at room temperature. The quality of a total of 540 fresh eggs in four different sizes (S, M, L and XL) was evaluated over a 4-week storage period at 25 ± 1 °C (60-65% RH). In this research, images from a scanning electron microscope revealed that the coatings maintained their integrity across all egg sizes, effectively covering pores and cracks throughout storage.
