Caring for someone with a life-limiting illness is associated with complex psychosocial sequelae; amplified for carers experiencing structural vulnerability. Workers across sectors of health and social care provide support for vulnerably positioned carers, yet exploration of the impacts of this work has predominantly focused on health professionals directly engaged with death and dying. This qualitative study explored ways in which palliative care and welfare workers experience work with current and bereaved carers of people with life-limiting illness, in a region associated with socioeconomic disadvantage.

Introduction: Inhalation drug delivery can deliver high doses of chemotherapeutic drugs to the lung tumor. This study evaluates the efficacy and the mechanistic pathways of nebulized Cur NPs at various sizes to treat multidrug resistant lung cancer.
Methods And Results: Cur-NPs (30 nm and 200 nm) were nebulized separately onto the multidrug-resistant lung cancer cells (H69AR).
The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical role of mobile health applications in the management of health crises. Despite the promising outcomes of these technologies, however, their acceptance and use among physicians in the developing world such as Saudi Arabia are notably low. The study aimed to explore the factors influencing the acceptance and adoption of mobile health applications by physicians in Saudi Arabia during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Background: Manual therapy is routinely used in the management of upper back pain (UBP), a disabling condition. However, the approach to diagnosis and treatment techniques used by manipulative physiotherapists and osteopaths is largely unknown.
Objectives: To explore knowledge about UBP, including diagnosis and treatment, by New Zealand (NZ) osteopaths and manipulative physiotherapists and to investigate differences (if any) in the self-reported approaches to diagnosis and management of UBP between the professions.

Background Abortion is a common procedure in Australia; it is estimated that the rate is between 15 and 17 per 1000 women. Surgical and medical abortion options are available; however, the use of medical abortion is not as common as in other similar countries. The aim of this study is to understand preferences for the provision of early abortion services in Australia.

CetZ proteins are archaea-specific homologs of the cytoskeletal proteins FtsZ and tubulin. In the pleomorphic archaeon , CetZ1 contributes to the development of rod shape and motility, and has been implicated in the proper assembly and positioning of the archaellum and chemotaxis motility proteins. CetZ1 shows complex subcellular localization, including irregular midcell structures and filaments along the long axis of developing rods and patches at the cell poles of the motile rod cell type.

Unlabelled: Natural resource management networks cohere due to mutual dependencies and fragment, in part, due to the perceived risks of interaction. However, research on these networks has tended to accept coherence a priori rather than problematizing dependence, and few studies exist on interorganizational risk perception. This article presents the results of a study operationalizing these concepts and measuring the distribution of three types of dependence (capital, legitimacy, and regulatory) and two types of perceived risk (performance and sanction) among nearly fifty stakeholder groups and organizations participating in the management of fisheries in the binational Gulf of Maine.

Cerebral palsy (CP) is a group of disorders that alters patients' muscle coordination, posture, and movement, resulting in a wide range of deformities. Cerebral palsy can be caused by various factors, both prenatal and postnatal, such as infections or injuries that damage different parts of the brain. As brain plasticity is more prevalent during childhood, early detection can help take the necessary course of management and treatments that would significantly benefit patients by improving their quality of life.

is an important species of green algae because it produces the high-value carotenoid astaxanthin. Astaxanthin production is enhanced by various stress conditions causing the transformation of green vegetative cells to red cells with high amounts of astaxanthin, which plays various photoprotective and antioxidant roles. Although intensive research has been conducted to reveal the regulation of astaxanthin production, the photosynthetic capacity of the various cell forms is unresolved at the single-cell level.

Global warming is a major threat to reptiles because temperature strongly affects their development. High incubation temperatures reduce hatchling body size and physiological performance; however, its effects on brain development and learning abilities are less well understood. In particular, it remains unclear if the effects of elevated temperatures on learning are restricted to hatchlings or instead will persist later in life.

The analysis of how biological shape changes across ontogeny can provide us with valuable information on how species adapt behaviorally, physiologically, and ecologically. The white shark Carcharodon carcharias is one of the largest and most widely distributed apex predators globally, yet an understanding of ontogenetic changes in body shape and relative scaling of length and weight measures is limited, especially in relation to foraging ecology. Through analysis of a suite of shape-related metrics, we identified ontogenetic patterns of scaling throughout development.

This scoping review explores the relationship between urban density and child health and wellbeing, focusing on how urban density has been measured and its association with various child health outcomes. By analysing 53 studies spanning from 1972 to 2023, we identify significant variability in how urban density is defined and measured and mixed evidence regarding its relationship with different child health outcomes. We also highlight context-specific findings, which may be connected to a range of dynamic and interconnected local and socio-cultural factors.

The concept of severity in healthcare is multidimensional and subjective. It is a primary consideration in reproductive genetic carrier screening design where the focus is providing reproductive couples with information about the chance of severe genetic conditions in their offspring. When offering this screening, it is important to understand how condition severity is perceived and incorporated into reproductive decision-making.

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) shows great promise for early diagnosis due to its high specificity and rapid detection capabilities. However, its application is often hindered by substrate instability and insufficient interaction between the substrate and incident light. To address these challenges, a photonic-plasmonic strategy is often employed to enhance sensing performance but it is generally limited by the low efficiency of plasmonic metal and optical cavity resonances.
