Purpose: The prognosis of relapsed primary central nervous system lymphoma remains a concern. This study aimed to compare the effects of various patient- and disease-related factors on the prognosis of relapsed primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL).

Methods: We retrospectively collected real-world data from eight Finnish hospitals on 198 patients diagnosed with PCNSL between 2003 and 2020.

Objectives: To investigate if receipt of measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine following the third dose of diphtheria-tetanus-acellular pertussis (DTaP3) is associated with reduced rates of non-targeted infectious disease hospitalisations.

Methods: Register based cohort study following 1,397,027 children born in Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden until 2 years of age. Rates of infectious disease hospitalisations with minimum one overnight stay according to time-varying vaccination status were compared using Cox proportional hazards regression analysis with age as the underlying timescale and including multiple covariates.

Military studies on SOC are commonly related to military deployment or operations, military training, and military fitness.

Public Health.

Background: The Finnish Geriatric Intervention Study to Prevent Cognitive Impairment and Disability (FINGER) multimodal lifestyle intervention yielded cognitive and other health benefits in older adults at risk of cognitive decline. The two-year multinational randomized controlled LETHE trial evaluates the feasibility of a digitally supported, adapted FINGER intervention among at-risk older adults. Technology is used to complement in-person activities, for the intervention delivery, personalize recommendations, and collect digital biomarkers.

Biomarkers.

Background: Accurate differential diagnosis of neurodegenerative diseases is challenging, but crucial for the management and treatment, particularly given the development of disease-modifying drug therapies for Alzheimer's disease (AD). In this work, we investigate imaging biomarkers derived from T1-weighted magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with a focus on differentiating Parkinson-plus syndromes from other relevant diagnostic groups in dementia and Parkinson's disease (PD).

Method: MR scans from 1206 subjects and three cohorts were used: Parkinson's Disease Biomarkers Program (PDBP), Amsterdam Dementia Cohort (ADC) and PredictND cohort (PND) (Table 1).

Background: The increasing dementia prevalence and potential introduction of disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) highlight the need for efficient diagnostic pathways. Clear recommendations to guide the choice of diagnostic tests are lacking and may vary depending on different clinical scenarios. We used a data-driven approach to identify efficient and effective stepwise diagnostic testing for three clinical scenarios: 1) syndrome diagnosis, 2) etiological diagnosis, 3) potential eligibility for DMT.

Prognostic Features and Potential for Immune Therapy in Metastatic Mismatch Repair-Deficient Colorectal Cancer: A Retrospective Analysis of a Large Consecutive Population-Based Patient Series.

Background: Immune checkpoint inhibition therapies have provided remarkable results in numerous metastatic cancers, including mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) colorectal cancer (CRC). To evaluate the potential for PD-1 blockade therapy in a large population-based cohort, we analyzed the tumor microenvironment and reviewed the clinical data and actualized treatment of all dMMR CRCs in Central Finland province between 2000 and 2015.

Material And Methods: Of 1343 CRC patients, 171 dMMR tumors were identified through immunohistochemical screening.

Background: Population-based cohort studies play a crucial role in unraveling the underlying causes of dementia among older individuals. While previous research has indicated an increase in limbic-predominant age-related TDP-43 encephalopathy neuropathological change (LATE-NC) with age, only limited investigations have delved into this phenomenon within a population-based context. In this study, we examined the prevalence of LATE-NC and its correlations with other brain pathologies and cognitive function in individuals aged > 85 years.

Developing Topics.

Background: When treatments against neurodegenerative diseases eventuate, the most successful time point to administer therapies will be the early stages, most likely before symptoms begin to show. Previous studies have found alpha-synuclein pathology (Lewy-related pathology; LRP) in asymptomatic individuals aged 62 years and above, with ranges from 8 to 17%.

Method: We performed immunohistochemical staining with the 5G4 antibody against alpha-synuclein on brain tissue samples from the Tampere Sudden Death Study - a collection of forensic autopsies on individuals that lived outside hospital institutions in Tampere and the surrounding regions, Finland.
