For the first time, rutin-rich extracts from black elderberry waste (BEW) were encapsulated using the particles from gas-saturated solutions (PGSS) method to improve the preservation of rutin. The extracts used in this study were obtained using five different extraction techniques under optimal conditions, as follows: conventional solid-liquid extraction (SLE) and four non-conventional techniques-ultrasound-assisted extraction (UAE), microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), enhanced solvent extraction (ESE), and supercritical CO pretreatment-followed by ESE (SFE-CO + ESE). The PGSS process of the obtained extracts was performed using two amphiphilic carriers, glycerol monostearate (GlyMS) and gelucire (Gel), in a mass ratio of 1:6, in favor of the carrier.

Formation of episodic memories is linked to cortico-hippocampal interactions during learning, practice, and post-learning rest, although the role of cortical activity itself in such processes remains elusive. Behaviorally, long-term retention of episodic memories has been shown to be aided by several different practice strategies involving memory reencounters, such as repeated retrieval and repeated study. In a two-session resting state electroencephalography (EEG) experiment, using data from 68 participants, we investigated the electrophysiological predictors of long-term memory success in situations where such reencounters occurred after learning.

Medical practice has proven that chronic wounds can be treated successfully if the dressing is chosen according to the healing phase of the wound. Correct intervention from the hemostasis and inflammatory phase can prevent oxidative stress and ensure optimal conditions for healing. The present paper aims to open discussion on the information content, physical mechanism(s), and measuring protocols to determine the partitioning of the absorbed light energy in oxygenic photosynthetic organisms. Revisiting these questions is incited by recent findings discovering that PSII, in addition to its open and closed state, assumes a light-adapted charge-separated state and that chlorophyll fluorescence induction (ChlF), besides the photochemical activity of PSII, reflects the structural dynamics of its reaction center complex.
