This research was planned to synthesize cyano-acetate derivatives of succinimide and evaluate its comparative biological efficacy as anti-inflammatory, anti-cholinesterase and anti-diabetic, which was further validated by molecular docking studies. The three cyano-acetate derivatives of succinimide including compound Methyl 2-cyano-2-(2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-3-yl)acetate, compound Methyl 2-cyano-2-(1-methyl-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-3-yl)acetate and compound Methyl 2-cyano-2-(1-ethyl-2,5-dioxopyrrolidin-3-yl) acetate were synthesized. The mentioned compounds were checked for in vitro anti-inflammatory, anti-cholinesterase and anti-diabetic (α-amylase inhibition) activity.

Favipiravir in SARS-CoV-2 Infection: Is it Worth it?

Comb Chem High Throughput Screen

November 2022

Department of Clinical Pharmacology, Medicine and Therapeutic, Medical Faculty, College of Medicine, Al-Mustansiriyah University, P.O. Box 14132, Baghdad, Iraq.

Favipiravir is a potential antiviral drug undergoing clinical trials to manage various viral infections, including severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2). Favipiravir possesses antiviral properties against RNA viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. Unfortunately, these viruses do not have authorized antiviral drugs for the management of diseases resulting from their infection, hence the dire need to accentuate the discovery of antiviral drugs that are efficacious and have a broad spectrum.

The growth and productivity of plants are enhanced by the use of thiourea (TU) under stressful conditions. When TU is applied as a rooting medium, it improves plant growth characteristics and other physiological parameters in stressed environment. A pot experiment was conducted in the botanical garden of the Government College University, Faisalabad 38000, Pakistan to examine the TU-mediated fluctuations in some crucial physio-biochemical parameters and the oxidative defense of potatoes under a restricted water supply.

Comparative conventional preventive strategies for insect pest of okra.

Saudi J Biol Sci

May 2022

Department of Science and Technology, University College-Ranyah, Taif University, B.O. Box 11099, Taif 21944, Saudi Arabia.

The use of natural substances for pest control in agriculture is economically viable. It benefits both the human being and the environment due to its low persistence and toxicity. Therefore, the biopesticidal potential of three- plants-derived extracts (clove [], Hing [Hing ()], and Wood Ash []) was evaluated against different ' 'insect's pests on five okra varieties.
