Secondary lithium-ion batteries are restricted in large-scale applications including power grids and long driving electric vehicles owing to the low specific capacity of conventional intercalation anodes possessing sluggish Li-ion diffusion kinetics. Herein, we demonstrate an unusual pseudocapacitive lithium-ion storage on defective CoOnanosheet anodes for high-performance rechargeable batteries. Cobalt-oxide nanosheets presented here composed of various defects including vacancies, dislocations and grain boundaries.

This study draws on defeat-entrapment theory to examine how followers' unclear demands during the COVID-19 consequently impact leaders' psychological states and well-being. We conducted a three-wave time-lagged investigation with a sample of 281 leaders in the United Kingdom and found that followers' unclear demands could generate feelings of entrapment in leaders, leading to decreased levels of well-being outcomes in leaders.

Introduction: The present study evaluated the application of incorporating non-linear J/U-shaped relationships between mean HbA1c and cholesterol levels into risk scores for predicting acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and non-AMI-related sudden cardiac death (SCD) respectively, amongst patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
Methods: This was a territory-wide cohort study of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus above the age 40 and free from prior AMI and SCD, with or without prescriptions of anti-diabetic agents between January 1st, 2009 to December 31st, 2009 at government-funded hospitals and clinics in Hong Kong. Patients recruited were followed up until 31 December 2019 or their date of death.
COVID-19 is a major, urgent, and ongoing threat to global health. Globally more than 24 million have been infected and the disease has claimed more than a million lives as of November 2020. Predicting which patients will need respiratory support is important to guiding individual patient treatment and also to ensuring sufficient resources are available.

Sodium-ion hybrid capacitors (SHCs) have attracted great attention owing to the improved power density and cycling stability in comparison with sodium-ion batteries. Nevertheless, the energy density (<100 Wh·kg) is usually limited by low specific capacity anodes (<150 mAh·g) and "kinetics mismatch" between the electrodes. Hence, we report a high energy density (153 Wh·kg) SHC based on a highly pseudocapacitive interface-engineered 3D-CoO-NrGO anode.

The apolipoprotein B mRNA editing enzyme catalytic polypeptide (APOBEC) family protects against infection by degrading incoming viral genomes through cytosine deamination. Here, we review how the potential to unleash these potent DNA mutagens comes at a price as APOBEC DNA mutagenesis can contribute to development of multiple types of cancer. In addition, because viral infection induces its expression, APOBEC is seen as the enemy of oncolytic virotherapy through mutation of the viral genome and by generating virotherapy-resistant tumors.

Radiation-grafted anion-exchange membranes (RG-AEM) in alkaline membrane fuel cells (AEMFC) exhibit promising performances (low resistances, high power outputs and reasonably high alkali stabilities). Much research is focused on developing AEMs with enhanced chemical stabilities in the OH-forms at temperatures >60 °C. Herein, we report a single-step synthesis, characterization, and electrochemical performance of nano-sized LiFePO (LFP)-embedded 3D-cubic mesoporous carbon (CSI-809) and nitrogenous carbon (MNC-859) composites. Furthermore, in order to investigate the effects of both CSI-809 and MNC-859 on the electrochemical characteristics of LFP, a systematic study was performed on the morphology and microstructure of the composites, , LFP/CSI-809 and LFP/MNC-859, using XRD, FE-SEM, FT-Raman, and BET surface area analyses. Among these composites, LFP/MNC-859 exhibited better electrochemical performance with higher specific capacity and rate capability as compared to those of LFP/CSI-809.

A miniscule amount of pristine graphene within a colloidal crystal lattice results in the formation of colloidal crystals with a strong angle-dependent structural color and a stop band that can be reversibly shifted across the visible spectrum. The crystals can be mechanically deformed or can reversibly change color as a function of their temperature, hence their sensitive mechanochromic and thermochromic response make them attractive candidates for a wide range of visual sensing applications.

Background: Lesch-Nyhan disease (LND; OMIM 300322), caused by virtually absent hypoxanthine-guanine phosphoribosyltransferase activity, in its classic form is characterised by hyperuricemia, variable cognitive impairment, severe motor disorder and a characteristic behavioural disorder (Lesch-Nyhan Behavior, LNB), typically described as self-injurious behavior (SIB) and "self-mutilation." This work focuses on the latter aspect with the aim of exploring and broadening it.
Methods: The participant observation method was used to follow three children diagnosed with LND individually, in different contexts of daily life, always with their usual restraints and in the presence of a caregiver.
Background: Impaired thrombin generation (TG) in patients with acquired coagulopathy, is due to low coagulation factors and thrombocytopenia. The latter is typically treated with platelet transfusions and the former with plasma and occasionally with prothrombin complex concentrates (PCCs). We hypothesized that manipulating the concentrations of coagulation factors might result in restoration of platelet-dependent TG over and above that of simple replacement therapy.

A recyclable mercury(ii) selective dimer based on a calix[4]pyrrole derivative has been synthesised and characterised by mass and FT-IR spectrometry, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) and Energy Dispersive X-ray (EDX). Information regarding the ability of the dimer to interact with metal cations was obtained from FTIR and SEM-EDX analyses. A striking feature of micrographs of the loaded dimer is the change of morphology with the cation.

2018/19 was the first season of introduction of a newly licensed adjuvanted influenza vaccine (aTIV) for adults aged 65 years and over and the sixth season in the roll-out of a childhood influenza vaccination programme with a quadrivalent live attenuated influenza vaccine (LAIV). Graphene oxide (GO), as an emerging material, exhibits extraordinary performance in terms of water treatment. Adsorption is a process that is influenced by multiple factors and is difficult to simulate by traditional statistical models.
