Objective: According to the Tokyo 2018 guidelines, white blood cells (WBCs) are the only markers used in the staging of acute cholecystitis. We aimed to investigate the role of thiol-disulfide and ischemia-modified albumin (IMA), which are used in the diagnosis of inflammatory diseases, in the diagnosis, and severity of acute cholecystitis.
Materials And Methods: A total of 108 patients hospitalized with acute cholecystitis and 42 healthy volunteers were included in the study.

Background: Dapagliflozin (DPG) is a sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitor and is used in the treatment of diabetes. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effect of DPG on cardiotoxicity caused by systemic inflammation via endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress and autophagy.
Methods And Results: Four groups of thirty-two Wistar Albino rats were created: Control (1 ml oral physiological saline for five days and intraperitoneal saline on the 5th day), LPS (1 ml oral physiological saline for five days and intraperitoneal 5 mg/kg of LPS on the 5th day), LPS + DPG (10 mg/kg of DPG orally for five days and 5 mg/kg of LPS intraperitoneally on the 5th day), and DPG (10 mg/kg of DPG orally for five days and 5 mg/kg of SF intraperitoneally on the 5th day).

Serious games provide a realistic environment in nursing education, a stimulating and experiential learning environment for developing skills necessary for learning, recognizing, analyzing, selecting, and applying information. This study aims to determine the impact of serious games and standard patient practices developed for nursing education on students' knowledge levels, satisfaction, self-confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. A serious game was designed using the educational principles of the diabetes course and developed using the 3D interactive content creation platform UNITY.

Doxorubicin (DOX), which is used to treat various cancers and hematological malignancies, has limited therapeutic application due to its toxicity in tissues and organs. These toxic effects occur through alterations in intracellular calcium regulation, elevated cell stress and oxidative damage, and increased apoptosis. Lercanidipine (LRD) is a long-acting antihypertensive calcium channel blocker with anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic, and antioxidant effects.

Electric field (EF) has been shown to cause tissue damage mainly through oxidative stress, inflammation, and apoptosis. Thus, juglone (5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone) (JUG), which has antioxidant and antiapoptotic properties, is thought to be effective against electric field-induced damage. We aimed to investigate whether 50 Hz alternating current (AC) triggers inflammation and apoptosis in rat liver and kidney tissues and evaluate the JUG supplement's estimated protective effect.

Introduction And Objective: Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) has been associated with myocardial inflammation, oxidative stress, apoptosis, and cardiac dysfunction, as well as death by causing sepsis. In this study, we investigated the effect of irbesartan (IRB), an angiotensin receptor antagonist, on cardiotoxicity caused by LPS.
Methods: The experiment involved 24 Wistar albino rats divided into three groups of eight: control, LPS (5 mg/kg), and LPS (5 mg/kg)+IRB (3 mg/kg).

The COVID-19 pandemic has had a sizable effect on interprofessional education and collaborative practice (IPECP) globally, yet much of the available literature on the topic remains anecdotal and locally bounded. This body of literature reflects celebratory and aspirational reports, with many case studies of successful response and perseverance under conditions of extreme pressure. There is, however, a more worrisome narrative emerging that pointed to differences in pandemic response with concerns raised about the sustainability of IPECP during and after the pandemic.

Objective: The purpose of our research was to observe the effects of miR-21, miR-221, and miR-222, as well as their target genes on oxidative stress, lung cancer formation, and metastasis.
Methods: Positron emission tomography/computed tomography, fiberoptic bronchoscopy, and/or endobronchial ultrasonography were performed on a total of 69 lung cancer patients to detect the presence or absence of metastasis, and the patients were classified based on the types of cancer. Total RNA and miRNA were isolated from the obtained biopsy samples.

COVID-19 disease, which spreads worldwide, is a disease characterized by widespread inflammation and affects many organs, especially the lungs. The resulting inflammation can lead to reactive oxygen radicals, leading to oxidative DNA damage. The pneumonia severity of 95 hospitalized patients with positive RT-PCR test was determined and divided into three groups: mild, moderate, and severe/critical.

Tungsten trioxide/graphene oxide (WO/GO) nanocomposites have been successfully synthesized using in situ and ex situ chemical approaches. Graphite and tungsten carbide (WC) were employed to perform in situ synthesis, and WO and GO were employed to perform the ex situ synthesis of WO/GO nanocomposites. GO, which was required for ex situ synthesis, is synthesized via the modified and improved Hummers method.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is characterized by the increase of hippocampal Ca influx-induced apoptosis and mitochondrial oxidative stress (OS). The OS is a stimulator of TRPM2, although N-(p-amylcinnamoyl)anthranilic acid (ACA), 2-aminoethyl diphenylborinate (2/APB), and glutathione (GSH) are non-specific antagonists of TRPM2. In the present study, we investigated the protective roles of GSH and TRPM2 antagonist treatments on the amyloid β42 peptide (Aβ)-caused oxidative neurotoxicity and apoptosis in the hippocampus of mice with AD model.

Exposure to ionizing radiation (IR) during diagnostic medical procedures brings certain risks, especially when experiencing recurrent exposures. The fabrication of nano-based composites, doped with different nanoparticles, have been suggested as effective shielding materials to replace conventional lead-based ones in material sciences and nanotechnology. In this study, commercially available fabrics, used to produce scrubs and gowns for clinical staff, are modified utilizing graphene oxide (GO) nanoparticles using a layer-by-layer (LBL) technique.

Introduction: Although early diagnosis of septic arthritis may reduce mortality rates, and limit unnecessary surgical interventions, clinical parameters alone are not adequate for making the diagnosis of septic arthritis. Therefore, relevant laboratory parameters are used to enhance diagnostic sensitivity. The aim of our study was to assist in making the diagnosis of septic arthritis, and prevent delays in the diagnosis.
