Lytic polysaccharide monooxygenase (LPMO) is a new class of oxidoreductases that boosts polysaccharide degradation employing a copper active site. This boost may facilitate the cost-efficient production of biofuels and high-value chemicals from polysaccharides such as lignocellulose. Unfortunately, self-oxidation of the active site inactivates LPMOs.
