Recently we proposed the possibility of orally exposed nanoparticles (NPs) to alter metabolite homeostasis by changing metabolism pathways, in addition to intestinal damages, but relatively few studies investigated the changes of metabolite profiles in multi-organs. This study investigated the influences of orally exposed SiO NPs on lipid profiles in gut-liver axis. To this end, we treated mice with 16, 160 or 1600 mg/kg bodyweight SiO NPs via intragastric route.

As a member of the single-fluorophore genetically encoded calcium indicators (GECIs), jGCaMP7f is widely applied to investigate intracellular Ca concentrations. Here, we established an INS-jGCaMP7f knock-in H1 human embryonic stem cell (hESC) line by integrating jGCaMP7f gene into insulin locus via CRISPR/Cas9 system. The reporter cell line not only effectively labelled the insulin-producing cells induced from hESC, but also reflected the cytosolic change of Ca level in response to different stimuli.

The neural mechanisms underlying the natural and maladaptive forgetting of established memory remain largely unknown. Brain disease states might hijack the physiological forgetting mechanisms, resulting in maladaptive forgetting such as accelerated forgetting that contributes to cognitive decline in various neurologic conditions including epilepsy. Based on the key role of the integrated stress response (ISR) in memory storage and maintenance, we determined whether the ISR underpins natural and accelerated forgetting.

Chlamydia trachomatis Pgp3 protein-induced immunoprotection is effective but incomplete, which requires the suitable adjuvants to enhance its immune response. Within this context, Hepatitis B core virus-like particles (HBc-VLP) emerge as nanoscale protein particles capable of incorporating either endogenous or exogenous antigens or epitopes. In this study, HBc-Pgp3 chimeric protein was accomplished by integrating the identified dominant epitope of the Pgp3 protein into the major immunodominant region of a truncated HBc-VLP, which was realized in the pET28a (+) vector and expressed via the E.

Although the radical hydroboration of alkenes with N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) borane is well documented, the radical hydroboration of alkynes, especially terminal alkynes, remains challenging. Herein, a photoredox-catalyzed radical -hydroboration of alkynes with NHC borane has been developed, which provided various alkenyl boron compounds in moderate to good yields. This protocol exhibits a broad substrate scope, as both internal and terminal alkynes were compatible.

Chemically modifiable small-molecule hole transport materials (HTMs) hold promise for achieving efficient and scalable perovskite solar cells (PSCs). Compared to emerging self-assembled monolayers, small-molecule HTMs are more reliable in terms of large-area deposition and long-term operational stability. However, current small-molecule HTMs in inverted PSCs lack efficient molecular designs that balance both the charge transport capability and interface compatibility, resulting in a long-standing stagnation of power conversion efficiency (PCE) below 24.

β-Rubromycin () has a unique O-methylated naphthoquinone moiety and is an efficient inhibitor of human telomerase. Through and investigations, we elucidated the biosynthetic tailoring steps of compound , which involve the carboxyl terminal via successive oxidizations by RubU and RubO1/RubO2, O-methylation of the carboxyl terminal by RubX, and reduction of C-3' hydroxyl by RubK. The final tautomerization of the naphthoquinone moiety is mediated by RubO, which anchors the transitional intermediate through O-methylation to form the naphthoquinone tautomer.
