ESG, however, solidifies the continuance of conventional technologies but can potentially disadvantage emerging technologies.

The main outcome measures were overall survival, cancer-specific survival, decline in functional outcomes, biochemical recurrence and transition to active treatment following active surveillance.

Generalized additive models for location, scale, and shape (GAMLSS) are a supervised statistical learning framework that allows modeling all the parameters of the distribution of the response variable with respect to the explanatory variables.

Application of a Comprehensive Evaluation Framework to COVID-19 Studies: Systematic Review of Translational Aspects of Artificial Intelligence in Health Care.

Background: Despite immense progress in artificial intelligence (AI) models, there has been limited deployment in health care environments. The gap between potential and actual AI applications is likely due to the lack of translatability between controlled research environments (where these models are developed) and clinical environments for which the AI tools are ultimately intended.

Objective: We previously developed the Translational Evaluation of Healthcare AI (TEHAI) framework to assess the translational value of AI models and to support successful transition to health care environments.

Introduction: The wellbeing of front-line healthcare workers can be impacted during a pandemic. This paper reports the initial impact on the wellbeing of COVID-19 on Australasian sonographers.

Methods: An online qualitative and quantitative survey was conducted between March and June 2020 to explore the wellbeing of Australasian sonographers in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Introduction: COVID-19 brought with it the requirement for healthcare workers to limit community transmission of the virus as much as possible by limiting patient contact and wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This study aimed to capture the initial adaptations to sonographic examination protocols within ultrasound departments and sonographer access to PPE.

Methods: An online survey was used to gather data on sonographer reflections of sonographic examination protocol changes seen in their departments and access to PPE between the 11th of March 2020 and the 14th of June 2020.

Novel technical developments in mass spectrometry imaging in 2020: A mini review.

The applicability of mass spectrometry imaging (MSI) has exponentially increased with the improvement of sample preparation, instrumentation (spatial resolution) and data analysis. The number of MSI publications listed in PubMed continues to grow with 378 published articles in 2020-2021. Initially, MSI was just sensitive enough to identify molecular features correlating with distinct tissue regions, similar to the resolution achieved by visual inspection after standard immunohistochemical staining.

Background Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) is known to improve heart function and quality of life, while rates of surgery-related mortality are low. However, delirium and cognitive decline are common complications. We sought to identify preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative risk or protective factors associated with delirium and cognitive decline (across time) in patients undergoing CABG.

Background Underrepresentation of older people in clinical trials remains. This study aimed to examine the inclusion of older people and associated safety and efficacy reports from clinical trials of new molecular entities for cardiovascular disease indications since commencement of the US Food and Drug Administration Drug Trial Snapshot (DTS) Program. The DTS provides concise information on participants included in clinical trials supporting US Food and Drug Administration approval of new drugs.

Objectives: Targeted immunotherapies such as chimeric antigen receptor (CAR)-T cells are emerging as attractive treatment options for glioblastoma, but rely on identification of a suitable tumor antigen. We validated a new target antigen for glioblastoma, fibroblast activation protein (FAP), by undertaking a detailed expression study of human samples.

Methods: Glioblastoma and normal tissues were assessed using immunostaining, supported by analyses of published transcriptomic datasets.

Clinical Characteristics and Risk Factors of Cardiac Involvement in COVID-19.

Background Increasing studies demonstrated that the cardiac involvements are related to coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Thus, we investigated the clinical characteristics of patients with COVID-19 and further determined the risk factors for cardiac involvement in them. Methods and Results We analyzed data from 102 consecutive laboratory-confirmed and hospitalized patients with COVID-19 (52 women aged 19-87 years).

External Validation and Evaluation of Adding MRI or Extended Myositis Antibody Panel to the 2017 EULAR/ACR Myositis Classification Criteria.

Objective: To externally validate the European League Against Rheumatism/American College of Rheumatism (EULAR/ACR) classification criteria for idiopathic inflammatory myositis (IIM) and determine the optimal cut points for Australian patients. To determine the level of agreement with traditional criteria and assess the effect of including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and an extended myositis antibody panel as well as extending histological criteria to include myofiber invasion.

Effect of shearing stress on the radial heterogeneity and chromatographic performance of styrene-based polymerised high internal phase emulsions prepared in capillary format.

Poly(styrene--divinylbenzene) monoliths were prepared from the polymerisation of water-in-monomer high internal phase emulsions consisting of a 90 vol% internal phase and stabilised by the non-ionic surfactant Span 80®. The materials were prepared in capillary housings of various internal diameters ranging from 150 μm to 540 μm by simply passing the emulsion through the capillaries. When low shear (300 rpm) was used for emulsification, the droplet and resulting void size distributions were observed to shift towards lower values when the emulsions were forced through capillaries of internal diameter less than 540 μm and all columns exhibited significant radial heterogeneity.
