This paper presents an approach to computing a safe upper bound of the response time of Distributed Control System (DCS). From a graphical model of live autonomous Timed Event Graphs (TEGs) with asynchronous links and weights, we draw algebraic representations of the time/event dynamics using the M〚γ,δ〛 dioid. By introducing scalers and two operators for handling batching or multiplying events, we are able to calculate the trajectories and transfer functions.

Non-invasive prenatal testing (NIPT) is provided in the private and public sectors worldwide as a first- or second-tier test. In England and France, NIPT is fully funded and offered as a contingent strategy with different probability cut-offs (1:150 and 1:1000). These different approaches to define the target population for NIPT have implications for how women experience their antenatal care.

Strong Gene Flow Undermines Local Adaptations in a Host Parasite System.

Insects

September 2020

Department of Life Sciences and Systems Biology, University of Turin, Via Accademia Albertina 13, 10123 Torino, Italy.

The co-evolutionary pathways followed by hosts and parasites strongly depend on the adaptive potential of antagonists and its underlying genetic architecture. Geographically structured populations of interacting species often experience local differences in the strength of reciprocal selection pressures, which can result in a geographic mosaic of co-evolution. One example of such a system is the boreo-montane social wasp and its social parasite , which have evolved local defense and counter-defense mechanisms to match their antagonist.
