We examined the effects of branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) and electrical pulse stimulation (EPS) on the mTORC1 pathway in muscle satellite cells (MSCs) isolated from branched-chain α-keto acid dehydrogenase kinase (BDK) knockout (KO) mice in vitro. MSCs were isolated from BDK KO and wild-type (WT) mice, proliferated, and differentiated into myotubes. BCAA stimulation increased the phosphorylation of p70 S6 kinase (p70S6K), a marker of protein translation initiation, in MSCs from WT and BDK KO mice, but the rate of the increase was higher in MSCs isolated from BDK KO mice.

Elucidation of reaction mechanisms in forming nanostructures is relevant to obtain robust and affordable protocols that can lead to materials with enhanced properties and good reproducibility. Here, the formation of magnetic iron oxide monocrystalline nanoflowers in polyol solvents using N-methyldiethanolamine (NMDEA) as co-solvent has been shown to occur through a non-classical crystallization pathway. Poly(-isopropylacrylamide) (PNIPAM) nanogels were prepared by emulsion polymerization using sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and employed as a capping agent in platinum nanoparticle (Pt NP) synthesis by liquid-phase reduction with hydrogen gas. When the PNIPAM nanogels were used without removing SDS, that is, a slight amount of SDS was included in the reaction solution, Pt nanocubes (NCs) were predominantly produced (>80%). The proportion of the resultant Pt NCs was much higher than that obtained using the PNIPAM linear polymer (∼60%).

Here, we describe an unreported capacity of Cas14a1: RNA can trigger the trans ssDNA cleavage. This Cas14a1-based RNA-activated detection platform (Amplification, Transcription, Cas14a1-based RNA-activated trans ssDNA cleavage, ATCas-RNA) has an outstanding specificity for the detection of target RNAs with point mutation resolution, which is better than that of the Cas14a1-based ssDNA-activation.

This work reports the synthesis, crystal structures, and electronic properties of structurally constrained S,C,C- and O,C,C-bridged triarylamine derivatives and their persistent radical cations. O,C,C-Bridged triphenylamines and a dinaphthylphenylamine were obtained through a straightforward synthetic protocol. Similar to a previously reported S,C,C-bridged triphenylamine, the O,C,C-bridged triarylamines were easily oxidized to afford the corresponding radical cations, which were obtained as hexachloroantimonate salts.
