In response to environmental pollution and the spread of Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19), this paper proposes a new type of smart mask design, and specifically proposes an optimized double closed-loop control method, especially an improved filtering fusion algorithm. Using the filtering fusion algorithm proposed in this paper, after the Kalman filter (KF) filters the raw data of the attitude sensor, explicit complementary filtering and data fusion are used to obtain the attitude angle of the body. At the same time, the obtained attitude angle is combined with acceleration and blood oxygen concentration to obtain the behaviour characteristic value.

In this study, nano zero-valent iron (nZVI) was utilized to activate persulfate (PS) for the degradation of metoprolol (MTP), a commonly used drug for curing cardiovascular diseases, in water. Quenching tests indicated that both the sulfate radical (SO˙) and hydroxyl radical (˙OH) contributed to the degradation of MTP, while SO˙ seemed to play a large role under natural pH conditions. Batch tests were conducted to investigate the effects of several influencing factors, such as PS concentration, initial MTP concentration, pH, temperature and common anions, on the degradation performance of MTP.

Osseointegration at the bone-implant interface is a complex biological process that is triggered by the immune-inflammatory response and mediated by various cell types such as, bone-forming cells and immune cells, especially macrophages. The polarization of macrophages to inflammatory/regenerative (M1/M2) phenotypes, as well as the osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) at the bone-implant interface, significantly affects implant osseointegration and even causes implant failure. Graphene oxide (GO) is a promising candidate for performing implant surface functionalization to modulate the interactions between implants and cells.

By doping molybdenum (Mo) into bismuth oxide (BiO), we synthesized novel BiMoO nanohybrids with a unique tremella-like crystal structure a one-pot hydrothermal method. Such a porous tremella structure of BiMoO possesses a significantly larger surface area than the spherical structure of BiO, which is favorable for the special functionalization and effective immobilization of molecules such as antibodies on the surface of the tremella flaps. As expected, Au nanoparticles grew easily and uniformly outside the surface of the flaps of the as-prepared BiMoO NTs (Au@BiMoO NTs), showing preferable conductivity and biocompatibility, and the anti-carcinoembryonic antigen (anti-CEA) was effectively immobilized outside the obtained Au@BiMoO NTs.

This paper examines if, in maize, starch structure and starch-dependent properties might be altered by pleiotropic effects arising from genetic modifications that are not directly related to starch synthesis. The molecular structure, specifically the starch chain-length distributions (CLDs), of two maize lines transformed with () and genes (an artificial gene, encoding proteinaceous insecticidal δ-endotoxins) were compared to those of their control lines. The two transgenes are responsible for herbicidal resistance and insect tolerance, respectively.

Blue-green algae commonly bloom in fresh water in summer, producing extra- and intra-cellular algal organic matters, which are important precursors for disinfection byproduct (DBP) formation. In this study, we evaluated the effect of pre-oxidation with ferrate(vi) (FeO , Fe(vi)) on the characterization of intracellular organic matter (IOM) and extracellular organic matter (EOM). The results indicated that soluble microbial-like products of EOM and IOM decreased and humic acid-like products of IOM increased, which would influence the DBP formation in the subsequent chlorination step.
