Probiotics have been shown to confer protection against many stresses, including apoptosis and inflammation, by modulating the gut function. The short-chain fatty acid, propionic acid (PPA), plays an important intermediate of cellular metabolism.

Thirty western albino rats were divided into five groups, six animals each: (1) Control group receiving phosphate-buffered saline; (2) Probiotic and bee pollen-treated group being administered at the same dose with 200 mg/kg body weight; (c) PPA-treated group receiving a neurotoxic dose 250 mg/kg body weight of PPA for 3 days; (d) Therapeutic group being administered the neurotoxic dose of PPA followed by probiotic and bee pollen treatment 200 mg/kg body weight; (e) Protective group receiving probiotic and bee pollen mixture treatment followed by neurotoxic dose of PPA. Selected biochemical parameters linked to oxidative stress, energy metabolism, and neurotransmission were investigated in brain homogenates from all the five groups.

Background: Morphological leaf traits are frequently used to quantify, understand and predict plant and vegetation functional diversity and ecology, including environmental and climate change responses. Although morphological leaf traits are easy to measure, their coverage for characterising variation within species and across temporal scales is limited. At the same time, there are about 3100 herbaria worldwide, containing approximately 390 million plant specimens dating from the 16th to 21st century, which can potentially be used to extract morphological leaf traits.

This sudden explosion and uncontrolled worldwide spread of COVID-19 has revealed the limitations of existing healthcare systems regarding handling public health emergencies. As governments seek to effectively re-establish their economies, open workplaces, ensure safe travels and progressively return to normal life, there is an urgent need for technologies that may alleviate the severity of the losses.

The fucoidan (CSF) showed important variation in sulfate content ranging from 7.8% in December to 34.

This study aims to evaluate the possible antihyperlipidemic effects of the feather protein hydrolysate (FPH) in a mice fed with a high-fat diet (HFD)-fed mice during 5 weeks. The FPH administration improved dose-dependent lipid profile, as well as the liver and renal dysfunction indices in hyperlipidemic mice.

Background: Recently, Tie2/TEK receptor tyrosine kinase (Tie2 or syn. angiopoietin-1 receptor) positive nucleus pulposus progenitor cells were detected in human, cattle, and mouse. These cells show remarkable multilineage differentiation capacity and direct correlation with intervertebral disc (IVD) degeneration and are therefore an interesting target for regenerative strategies.
