In the pursuit of sustainable porcelain production, this research examines the potential of using recovered automotive glass as a substitute for traditional feldspar, specifically feldspar imported from Spain. Porcelain samples were sintered at different temperatures and with varied proportions of automotive glass. Recently, several researchers have been trying to reduce the ecological effects of water pollution by considering the use of biodegradable materials that prevent the generation of secondary pollution in our environment and enable water reuse. Here, new biodegradable hydrogels based on alginate (Alg), gelatin (Gel) and polypyrrole (PPy) were successfully implemented to remove two known highly toxic cationic dyes from wastewater. Polyvinylidene fluoride or polyvinylidene difluoride (PVDF) is a piezoelectric semi-crystalline polymer whose electro-mechanical properties may be modulated via strain-induced α → β phase transition and the incorporation of polarized inorganic particles. The present work focuses on the constitutive representation of PVDF-based piezo-composites developed within the continuum-based micromechanical framework and considering the combined effects of particle reinforcement, α → β phase transition, and debonding along the interface between the PVDF matrix and the particles under increasing deformation. The micromechanics-based model is applied to available experimental data of PVDF filled with various concentrations of barium titanate (BaTiO) particles.

The microstructure and texture of the intermetallics in Al/Mg/Al multi-layer composite fabricated by Accumulative Roll Bonding (ARB) at 400 °C up to 6 cycles were investigated using Electron BackScatter Diffraction (EBSD) and Synchrotron X-ray Diffraction (SXRD). EBSD and SXRD analysis have shown that ARB processing leads to the formation of AlMg and MgAl intermetallics soon after the second ARB cycle with a global thickness of 12 (N = 2) to 22 µm (N = 6). The polycrystalline intermetallics plates growth was columnar and normal to the bonding interface.

This study investigates the sintering behaviour and properties of WC-based composites in which WC was mixed with W5vol%Ni in concentrations of 10vol% and 20vol%. Colloidal processing in water and spark plasma sintering were employed to disperse the WC particles and facilitate sintering. The addition of W5vol%Ni improved the sintering process, as evident from a lower onset temperature of shrinkage determined through dilatometric studies.

Coastal aquifer overexploitation represents a concerning trigger for water salinization around the world and especially in arid and semi-arid regions along with urban growth and urbanization, as well as land use human-induced changes. This study aims to assess the groundwater quality in the Mitidja alluvial aquifer (northern Algeria) along with its suitability for domestic and agricultural utilizations.
