Advances in nerve guidance conduits for peripheral nerve repair and regeneration.

Am J Stem Cells

December 2023

Department of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery, Affiliated Drum Tower Hospital of Nanjing University Medical School, Jiangsu Provincial Key Medical Discipline (Laboratory) Nanjing 210003, Jiangsu, China.

Peripheral nerve injury (PNI) can cause partial or total motor and sensory nerve function, leading to physical disability and nerve pain that severely affects patients' quality of life. Autologous nerve transplantation is currently the clinically recognized gold standard, but due to its inherent limitations, researchers have been searching for alternative treatments. Nerve guidance conduits (NGCs) have attracted much attention as a favorable alternative to promote the repair and regeneration of damaged peripheral nerves.

The utilization of microfluidic technology for miniaturized and efficient particle sorting holds significant importance in fields such as biology, chemistry, and healthcare. Passive separation methods, achieved by modifying the geometric shapes of microchannels, enable gentle and straightforward enrichment and separation of particles. Building upon previous discussions regarding the effects of column arrays on fluid flow and particle separation within microchips, we introduced a column array structure into an H-shaped microfluidic chip.

Article Synopsis
  • HORMAD1 is a cancer/testis antigen that has been found to be significantly upregulated in gastric cancer, correlating with poor prognosis.
  • Research showed that HORMAD1 influences cancer cell growth and invasion by affecting the NF-κB signaling pathway and promoting the epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT).
  • HORMAD1 may serve as a valuable prognostic biomarker and potential therapeutic target for gastric cancer treatment.

Resistance to HER2-targeted therapy narrows the efficacy of cancer immunotherapy. Although 4-1BB/CD137 is a promising drug target as a costimulatory molecule of immune cells, no therapeutic drug has been approved in the clinic because of systemic toxicity or limited efficacy. Previously, we developed a humanized anti-HER2 monoclonal antibody (mAb) HuA21 and anti-4-1BB mAb HuB6 with distinct antigen epitopes for cancer therapy.

This study aimed to systematically evaluate the effect of traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) injections on anthracycline-induced cardiac injury. The Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMbase, CNKI, and other databases were electronically retrieved to gather randomized controlled trials(RCTs) of TCM injections against anthracycline-induced cardiac injury from their inception to September 2021. After two research fellows independently screened the literature and extracted the data, the risk of bias of included RCTs was assessed and network Meta-analysis was performed by R 4.

MicroRNA-186-5p represses neuroblastoma cell growth via downregulation of .

Am J Transl Res

April 2019

The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC, Division of Life Sciences and Medicine, University of Science and Technology of China Hefei 230001, Anhui, P. R. China.

Micro RNA (miRNAs) is a kind of non coding small RNAs with negative regulation function, which plays an important role in regulating the occurrence and development of tumors. In this study, we analyzed the expression level and role of miRNA-186-5p and Eg5 in neuroblastoma and neuroblastoma cell lines SHSY-5Y, Kelly, NBL-S and SK-N-AS. Results of Real-time PCR and immunohistochemistry showed that the expression level of Eg5 in tumor tissues was higher than that in tumor adjacent tissues, while miRNA-186-5p expression level in tumor tissues was lower than that in tumor adjacent tissues.
