Born-Oppenheimer molecular dynamics (BOMD) simulations are of great interest for the dynamic properties of molecular and solid systems. However, BOMD simulations necessitate not only an extensive period of dynamical evolution but also costly self-consistent-field (SCF) electronic structure calculations, especially for hybrid functional-based BOMD (H-BOMD) simulations within plane-wave basis sets. Here, we propose an improved always stable predictor-corrector (ASPC) method for the wave function extrapolation to accelerate the plane-wave H-BOMD simulations, named projected ASPC (PASPC), yielding a wave function closer to the actual solution space and efficiently reducing the number of SCF iterations at each MD step.

It is always important and fascinating to explore new organic emitters that exploit unconventional pathways to unveil their emission with unique properties, such as thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF). In this study, we report that the rarely explored sulfur lone pair (n) is a promising alternative, where the correlated π* → n emission can be used to attain strong TADF and thus practical OLEDs. The designed strategy incorporates several key concepts (Figure 1a), in which the persulfide aromatic spirocycle enhances spin-orbit coupling, thereby increasing the intersystem crossing rate.

In recent years, the emerging exploration of chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging for detecting pathological changes in neurodegenerative diseases has opened up new possibilities for early detection and repetitive scans without ionizing radiation. This review serves as an overview of chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging with detailed information on contrast mechanisms and processing methods and summarizes recent developments in both clinical and preclinical studies of chemical exchange saturation transfer magnetic resonance imaging for Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and Huntington's disease.

Inspired by the properties of natural chitin, the present work provides the first solid foundation for growing conformal ultrathin antibacterial films of organic chitin through a solvent-free molecular layer deposition (MLD) process. This work establishes the initial groundwork for growing biomimetic hybrid cuticles by combining sugar-type molecules with vapor-phase metal-organic precursors, which we term metallochitins or, more generally, metallosaccharides. The MLD process, featuring mild temperatures and solvent-free conditions, provides exceptional conformality and thickness precision, ensuring highly conformal coatings on diverse high aspect ratio substrates.
