In this work, ZnO nanoparticles (NPs) are synthesized using avocado seed extract and annealed at different annealing temperatures from 400 to 800 °C. The morphology of the nanoparticles changes from poly shapes at 400 °C to spherical ones at 800 °C, and particle sizes increase from ∼42 nm to ∼128 nm. The Ag/ZnO@400/FTO memory device exhibits stable resistive switching over 100 cycles and a resistance window of approximately 150.

An improvement to Hummers' method involving a cascade-design graphite oxidation reaction is reported to optimize safety and efficiency in the production of graphite oxide (GrO) and graphene oxide (GO). Chemical reduction using highly alkaline ammonia solution is a novel approach to synthesizing reduced graphene oxide (RGO). In this original research, we revisit the oxidation and reduction reactions, providing significant findings regarding the synthetic pathway to obtain a bioinspired water-intercalated hydrogel of RGO nanosheets.

Hydrogen production through photoelectrochemical (PEC) reactions is an innovative and promising approach to producing clean energy. The PEC working electrode of a CoO/ZnO-based p-n heterojunction was prepared by a straightforward electrochemical deposition with different deposition times onto an FTO (Fluorine-doped Tin Oxide) glass substrate. The successful synthesis of the materials was confirmed through analysis using XRD, FTIR, SEM-EDX, DRS, and PL techniques.

Molecular data from samples encompassing 22 nominal species of indicate that the species-level diversity in the genus has been vastly overestimated, likely due to inadequate taxon and geographic sampling and reliance on morphological characters that vary intra-specifically. Four new mexicanolide-type limonoids, swietemicrolides A-D (1-4), together with three known compounds (5-7) were isolated from an ethyl acetate extract of the bark of . 1 and 2 had 1,8-hemiacetal systems whilst 3 and 4 shared hexacyclic skeletons consisting of three fused five-membered rings. The structures of the isolated compounds were determined using spectroscopic methods.

The catalytic application of 3-(4-sulfobutyl)-1-imidazole-3-ium chloride immobilized on activated silica gel (SiO-Imi-SOH) for the production of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural is described here for the first time. This material was synthesized using a three-step method involving the grafting of chloropropyl groups onto activated silica gel, the substitution of zwitterions, and the acidification of zwitterions to form silica-supported ionic liquid. The successful immobilization of the IL on silica gel was confirmed through energy-dispersive X-ray (EDX) spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and elemental mapping.

Understanding the characteristics of intrinsic defects in crystals is of great interest in many fields, from fundamental physics to applied materials science. Combined investigations of scanning tunneling microscopy/spectroscopy (STM/S) and density functional theory (DFT) are conducted to understand the nature of Se vacancy defects in monolayer (ML) ReSe grown on a graphene substrate. In this study, the aerial parts of mature Vietnamese plants were put through cytotoxic, anti-diabetic, and phytocompositional evaluations. Specifically, four extracts (petroleum ether (PE), ethyl acetate (EA), methanol (Me), and aqueous (W)) were prepared by maceration at room temperature. All extracts, together with some isolated compounds, were investigated for cytotoxicity against some human normal and cancer cell lines (fibroblasts, HeLa, NCI-H460, HepG2, MCF-7, and Jurkat) using the standardized modified sulforhodamine B (SRB) assay.

In the present study, Lam Dong bentonite clay was utilized as a novel resource to effectively synthesize microporous ZSM-5 zeolite (Si/Al ∼ 40). The effects of aging and hydrothermal treatment on the crystallization of ZSM-5 were carefully investigated. Herein, the aging temperatures of RT, 60, and 80 °C at time intervals of 12, 36, and 60 h, followed by high temperature hydrothermal treatment (170 °C) for 3-18 h were studied.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA series of new Co/N-doped porous carbon composites, denoted as Co/CZIF-9 and Co/CZIF-12, containing Co nanoparticles encapsulated in nitrogen-doped carbon matrices were prepared by annealing Co-based zeolite imidazolate framework materials, ZIF-9 and ZIF-12, as the efficient precursors at different temperatures. The structural features of the as-synthesized composites at 900 °C were determined by analytical methods with high reliability. Consequently, Co/CZIF-12_900 exhibits a high first specific discharge capacity of 971.

An aluminum methylmethoxyphosphonate (AlPo)-based flame retardant (FR) was synthesized. Thermal degradation and flame retardancy of nylon 6 (PA6)/AlPo composites were examined and compared with PA6/commercial aluminum diethylphosphinate (AlPi) composites. The PA6/AlPo composite achieved a V-0 rating at 20 wt% loading during the UL-94 test, and it exhibited the formation of a charred layer that protected the polymer from burning and reduced the release of gases during the combustion of PA6.

Among many acidic catalysts, amorphous carbon-supported sulfonic acid (AC-SOH) has been evaluated as a new-generation solid catalyst with outstanding activity. Because of the -SOH groups, the surface properties of the amorphous carbon catalyst were improved, which made the catalytic activity of the amorphous carbon-supported sulfonic acid many times greater than that of sulfuric acid. The amorphous carbon-supported sulfonic acid exhibited several advantages such as low cost, non-toxicity, porosity, stability, and easily adjustable chemical surface.
