The rate of sexual dimorphism in the human hip bone is primarily due to the structural demands of childbirth. Genetic, environmental, and socio-cultural factors can also influence pelvic shape variations across populations. This study examines intra-population sex variation within the Italian population based on regional differences of 280 coxal bones from two documented human osteological collections (Bologna and Sassari) coming from different geographical areas, the northern continental and island regions.

In the last few years, the Deep Plane Face Lift (DPFL) has gained great popularity among plastic surgeons, even if its origins are traced back to the 1970s. Certainly, it could have some advantages but based on our experience, it can reveal some unpleasant features in the long term. For this reason, the senior authors have adopted the high superficial musculoaponeurotic system (SMAS) Face Lift for many years in their surgical practice.

Vanadium is a transition metal with important industrial, technological, biological, and biomedical applications widespread in the environment and in living beings. The different reactions that vanadium compounds (VCs) undergo in the presence of proteins, nucleic acids, lipids and metabolites under mild physiological conditions are reviewed. In the environment vanadium is present naturally or through anthropogenic sources, the latter having an environmental impact caused by the dispersion of VCs in the atmosphere and aquifers.

Background: Antithrombotic therapy (AT) after left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) in patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) has the purpose of preventing device related thrombosis (DRT), avoiding embolic events; nevertheless, the correct antithrombotic regimen after LAAO is still under debate.
Aims: Aim of this substudy of the observational LOGIC registry was to describe the efficacy and safety of a light antithrombotic regimen, comprising single antiplatelet therapy or none, compared to a standard antithrombotic regimen, after a successful LAAO.
Methods: Patients with NVAF that underwent LAAO were previously included in the LOGIC registry.

Although recent evidence suggests that myeloid clonal hematopoiesis (M-CH) may influence lymphoma clinical outcome, its impact in mantle cell lymphoma (MCL) remains unclear. Here, we report a comprehensive NGS-based analysis of the M-CH mutational landscape at baseline and follow-up in patients enrolled in the Fondazione Italiana Linfomi (FIL) MCL0208 phase 3 trial (NCT02354313), evaluating lenalidomide maintenance versus observation after chemoimmunotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) in untreated young MCL patients. Overall, 254/300 (85%) enrolled patients (median age 57 years [32-66]) had a baseline sample available for CH analysis.

Personality can be considered a system characterized by complex dynamics that are extremely adaptive depending on continuous interactions with the environment and situations. The present preliminary study explores the dynamic interplay between brain flexibility and personality by taking the dynamic approach to personality into account, thereby drawing from Cloninger's psychobiological model. 46 healthy individuals were recruited, and their brain dynamics were assessed using magnetoencephalography (MEG) during the resting state.

In polymer science and technology, the distinction between thermoplastic and thermosetting materials has always been sharp, clear, and well-documented: indeed, the former can theoretically be reprocessed a potentially infinite number of times by heating, forming, and subsequent cooling. This cannot be done in the case of thermosetting polymers due to the presence of cross-links that covalently bind the macromolecular chains, giving rise to insoluble and infusible polymeric networks. In 2011, the discovery of vitrimers revolutionized the classification mentioned above, demonstrating the possibility of using new materials that consist of covalent adaptable networks (CANs): this way, they can change their topology through thermally-activated bond-exchange reactions.

Background: Isotopologues resulting from the labelling of molecules with deuterium have attracted interest due to the isotope effect observed in chemistry and biosciences. Isotope effect may also play out in noncovalent interactions and mechanisms leading to intermolecular recognition. In chromatography, differences in retention time between isotopologues, as well as between isotopomers have been observed resulting in two different elution sequences (isotope effects): the normal isotope effect when heavier isotopologues retain longer than lighter analogues, and the inverse isotope effect featuring the opposite elution order.

Involutional lower eyelid ectropion is a common disorder of the elderly population. Several surgical approaches have been described in the literature to address the multifactorial nature of this condition, each targeting different factors contributing to its development. Nevertheless, no single procedure has proven to be superior to the others.

In the face of global climate threats, farm and land-management decisions must balance climate concerns with profitability, animal welfare, and ecosystem health. However, few comprehensive studies have quantified the relationship between animal welfare and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, and no study focuses specifically on sheep farms. The present study aims to quantify the effects of impaired welfare on GHG emissions for common welfare challenges faced in UK lowland (L) and hill (H) sheep farming systems.
