Background: The purpose of this study was to assess the treatment outcomes and prognostic factors of brainstem glioma (BCG) patients treated by radiotherapy (RT) or chemoradiation (CHRT) in the last 20 years in a population cohort.

Materials And Methods: Patients diagnosed with BSG from 2000-2020 treated by RT or CHRT were identified from The Fundação Oncocentro de São Paulo database. Data on age, gender, practice setting, period of treatment, and treatment modality were extracted.

Five-year follow-up after stereotactic body radiotherapy for medically inoperable early-stage non-small cell lung cancer: a multicenter study.

Background: Stereotactic body radiotherapy (SBRT) has proven to provide high rates of tumor control for patients with early-stage non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). We are reporting a multicenter experience of long-term clinical outcomes and adverse effect profiles of patients with medically inoperable early-stage NSCLC treated with SBRT.

Methods: A total of 145 early-stage NSCLC patients underwent SBRT at the Cancer Hospital of the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences (Zhejiang Cancer Hospital), Shandong Cancer Hospital and Institute, and Shanghai Pulmonary Hospital between October 2012 and March 2019.

The vaginal microbiome is dominated by Lactobacillus spp. and the depletion of these microorganisms have been associated with adverse conditions that can affect women's health. Disturbance of the vaginal niche with a non-lactobacillary microbiota is associated with susceptibility to some diseases, such as obstetric alterations and infertility, resulting in failure in natural pregnancies and increased demand for assisted reproduction treatments.

The Brazilian Portuguese version of the ICIQ-FLUTSsex: cross-cultural adaptation and measurement property analysis.

Introduction And Hypothesis: The worldwide prevalence of sexual dysfunction in women is high; therefore, an adequate assessment of this condition is necessary, with instruments validated for the Brazilian population. The aim was to translate and adapt the International Consultation on Incontinence Questionnaire Female Sexual Matters Associated with Lower Urinary Tract Symptoms into Brazilian Portuguese (ICIQ-FLUTSsex-Br) and analyze its measurement properties.

Methods: We recruited Brazilian women, literate, over 18 years old, who had had sexual intercourse in the last 4 weeks and had urinary loss.

Microbiota and seminal quality: A systematic review.

The microbiota is composed of numerous resident microorganisms, which contribute to the health and illness of the individual. When the microbiota is in dysbiosis, it can cause some pathological processes and in men it can be correlated with male infertility, so the present study does a systematic review, identifying whether there is a correlation between the microbiota and seminal quality. We analyzed 7 papers published in PubMed, Medline and the Cochrane library databases, in English and published between 2012 and 2022.

This study aims to investigate the effect of Mygalin, an acylpolyamine synthesized from a natural molecule in the hemolymph of the Acanthoscurria gomesiana spider, injected into the prelimbic (PrL) region of the medial prefrontal cortex on chronic neuropathic pain and depression comorbidity in rats. To investigate that comorbidity, neuropathic pain was induced by chronic constriction injury (CCI) of the sciatic nerve in male Wistar rats.

Background: Quality management tools and models are used to improve processes and products, including those related to organ and tissue donation and transplantation protocols. This study aims to map, discuss, and disseminate models/tools of quality management systems applied in health services, specializing in the donation and/or transplantation of human organs and tissues.

Methods: This is an integrative literature review over the last 10 years, operationalized through searches carried out on the PubMed portal and the databases: SciVerse Scopus (SCOPUS), Scielo, Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS), Nursing Database (BDENF), and the Virtual Health Library (BVS).

Tumor, Patient, and Social Determinants of Health Affecting Survival in Patients With Anal Cancer Treated By Chemoradiation.

Purpose: Anal cancer (AC) is a rare disease with scarce evidence from developing countries. We performed a population-based cohort study to investigate the relationship between tumor, patient, and social determinants of health with treatment outcomes of AC treated by chemoradiation (CRT).

Methods And Materials: Patients who received a diagnosis of AC from 1999 to 2020 were identified from the Fundação Oncocentro de São Paulo database.

UHMK1 is a novel splicing regulatory kinase.

The U2AF Homology Motif Kinase 1 (UHMK1) is the only kinase that contains the U2AF homology motif, a common protein interaction domain among splicing factors. Through this motif, UHMK1 interacts with the splicing factors SF1 and SF3B1, known to participate in the 3' splice site recognition during the early steps of spliceosome assembly. Although UHMK1 phosphorylates these splicing factors in vitro, the involvement of UHMK1 in RNA processing has not previously been demonstrated.

Lessons from the Brazilian radiotherapy expansion plan: A project database study.

Background: The Radiotherapy Expansion Plan for Brazil's Unified Health System (PER-SUS) was an innovative program designed by the Ministry of Health in 2012 to provide improvements to the challenging problem of access to radiotherapy in the country. This study sought to analyze the execution and implementation of installations proposed by PER-SUS, and their capacity to address the problems of radiotherapy access in Brazil.

Methods: From the first release (February 2015) until October 2021, all PER-SUS monthly progress reports were retrospectively analyzed.

Congenital malformations in brachycephalic dogs: A retrospective study.

The popularity of brachycephalic dogs has increased in recent years due to their docile temperament and peculiar features. The historical inbreeding and consequent lack of genetic diversity involved in the development of these breeds led to an increase in the manifestation of deleterious genes that may lead to malformations. In addition, there are serious health issues intrinsic to the conformation, mainly attributed to these extreme characteristics.

D-like receptor activation by intranasal dopamine attenuates fear responses induced by electrical stimulation of the dorsal periaqueductal grey matter, but fails to reduce aversion to pit vipers and T-maze performance.

Background: Panic-like reactions elicited by electrical stimulation of the dorsal periaqueductal grey matter (ES-dPAG) seem to be regulated by dopamine (DA). We showed that DA applied intranasally (IN) increased escape-behaviour thresholds induced by ES-dPAG of rats, indicating a panicolytic-like effect.

Aims: We investigated whether IN-DA increases escape-response thresholds induced by ES-dPAG by acting on D-like receptors, and whether IN-DA affects escape responses elicited by the presence of a potential predator and by open space and height of the elevated T-maze (ETM) as well as motor performance in the open field (OF) test.
