The ORTO-15 is a commonly used screening instrument for symptoms of Orthorexia Nervosa (ON), an obsessive overconcern with healthy eating. However, its limitations have been evidenced in several published factorial models. We analyzed the psychometric properties of seven different ORTO-15 factorial models using data from Brazilian adult participants ( = 1455; 71.

The application of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) to acupuncture points may produce effects similar to that of needle stimulation in patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD). This systematic review was conducted according to the Cochrane Collaboration guidelines and aimed to address clinical questions using the following strategy: Patient/Problem, Intervention, Comparison, and Outcome (PICO). A comprehensive literature search was performed upto April 26, 2023, across nine electronic databases (BVS, PubMed, Scopus, Embase, Web of Science, ScienceDirect, Cochrane Library, Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences Literature (LILACS), and Google Scholar) supplemented with gray literature.

Background: The vertical jump can be analyzed based on the flight time achieved by the individual. This measurement can be obtained using a force platform or a three-dimensional infrared camera system, but such equipment is expensive and requires training for data collection and processing. Thus, this study aimed to evaluate the accuracy and reliability of using a smartphone and the Kinovea software compared with a force platform as a method of vertical jump analysis.

The primary function of the posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) is to restrict the posterior translation of the tibia, and its secondary function is to limit the tibial external rotation, mainly at 90° and 120° of knee flexion. The prevalence of PCL rupture ranges between 3% and 37% of patients with knee ligament tears. This ligament injury often is associated with other ligament injuries.

The biomodulatory potential of low-level laser therapy (LLLT) has prompted investigations of different outcomes in health. One line of research is the stimulation of acupuncture points for the relief of different signs and symptoms related to the stomatognathic system. In dentistry, some studies in pediatric dentistry have demonstrated the benefit of LLLT therapies in the management of dental anxiety in children.

Background: The aim of this in vivo study was to quantitatively evaluate pain after rapid maxillary expansion (RME) in young rats by analyzing the activation of nociception-related structures, that is, the caudalis, interpolaris, and oralis subnuclei, according to the Fos expression.
Methods: A total of 65 Wistar rats were assigned to three groups: control group (n = 15) with no treatment, positive control group (n = 25), and experimental group (n = 25) with RME. The experimental animals were euthanized at 6, 12, 24, 48, and 72 hours after RME, and the brain was later carefully collected.

The aim of the study was to perform a literature review to analyze the effect of photobiomodulation in experimental studies on peripheral nerve regeneration after sciatic nerve crush injury in rodents. A bibliographic search was performed in the electronic databases, including MEDLINE (PubMed), SCOPUS, and SciELO, from 2008 to 2018. A total of 1912 articles were identified in the search, and only 19 fulfilled all the inclusion criteria.

Objectives: Recently, defects in the protein kinase mTOR (mammalian target of rapamycin) and its associated pathway have been correlated with hemimegalencephaly (HME). mTOR acts as a central regulator of important physiological cellular functions such as growth and proliferation, metabolism, autophagy, death, and survival. This study was aimed at identifying specific variants in mTOR signaling pathway genes in patients diagnosed with HME.

Most of the decisions made in planning treatment with implants rely on the clinician's assessment of the density of the jawbone. However, we know of only a few studies that have evaluated the clinicians' subjectivity and the objective quantitative methods. Our aim was to assess whether the characteristics of the bone seen on preoperative imaging are similar to the features faced during the operation.

Unlabelled: Oropouche virus (OROV) is a member of the Orthobunyavirus genus in the Bunyaviridae family and a prominent cause of insect-transmitted viral disease in Central and South America. Despite its clinical relevance, little is known about OROV pathogenesis. To define the host defense pathways that control OROV infection and disease, we evaluated OROV pathogenesis and immune responses in primary cells and mice that were deficient in the RIG-I-like receptor signaling pathway (MDA5, RIG-I, or MAVS), downstream regulatory transcription factors (IRF-3 or IRF-7), beta interferon (IFN-β), or the receptor for type I IFN signaling (IFNAR).

Recently, we found a rapid and long-lasting improvement of symptoms in schizophrenic patients on antipsychotics after a single four-hour infusion of sodium nitroprusside (SNP), a nitric oxide (NO) donor with a short half-life. This improvement persisted for up to 4weeks. Because these patients remained on antipsychotics after infusion of SNP was finished, the question arises about whether this improvement was due to SNP itself.

Background: The installation of dental implants in the posterior maxilla is often faced with resorbed alveolar processes, resulting from a combination of pneumatization of the maxillary sinus, the effects of periodontal disease, and physiological bone resorption. The sinus lift surgery has been practiced since 1980 with the aim to increase bone height in this region for an implant supported prosthetic rehabilitation, and various filling materials have been used for such.
Objectives: This study aimed to clinically, radiographically, and histologically evaluate a preparation of calcium phosphate cement (Bone Source(®), BS) used as filling material in maxillary sinus elevation surgery.
