Background: Internet has become an indispensable source of health-related information. However, several studies have shown there to be a lack of quality control for webpages related to disability. Specifically, available content concerning Down syndrome (DS) and dentistry is limited and of dubious quality.

This three-year longitudinal study explored the diversity of individual trait configurations in children with conduct problems, assessing whether 1) the same profiles can be identified in boys and girls and, 2) the predictors and outcomes of these profiles are invariant across genders.
Method: A multigroup analysis of latent profiles based on temperamental and psychopathic traits was performed on a sample of 401 young children (50.

Background Age-associated aortic remodeling includes a marked increase in intimal medial thickness (IMT), associated with signs of inflammation. Although aortic wall milk fat globule-epidermal growth factor VIII (MFG-E8) increases with age, and is associated with aortic inflammation, it is not known whether MFG-E8 is for the age-associated increase in aortic IMT. Here, we tested whether MFG-E8 is for the age-associated increase in aortic IMT.

In this study we examine the extent to which aspects such as the emotionality coded in words may interfere with the processing of gender agreement errors in a sentence grammaticality judgement task. We follow the methodological pattern of our previous experiments, using consistently the same kind of structure and task (gender agreement) and only emotional (pleasant vs unpleasant) words, in an attempt to clarify whether neural correlates and performance show similar patterns in positive and negative words. We found an emotional effect in the N400 time window for unpleasant adjectives as well as the classic grammaticality effects in the left anterior negativity (LAN) and the P600 components.

Xanthohumol (XN) is the main prenylated chalcone present in hops () with high biological activity, and it is of great importance for human health because of its antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, immunosuppressive and chemopreventive properties. This polyphenol can be included in the diet through foods in which hops are used, such as beer or food supplements. Because of their health benefits and the increasing interest of using hops as a novel nutraceutical, the aim of this work was the identification and quantification of XN in different types of samples using a method based on high resolution liquid chromatography with a diode array detector (HPLC-DAD).

Incorporating therapeutic molecules into biomorphic ceramics for in situ drug release can be used to generate novel systems for tissue regeneration. These systems couple the complex hierarchical porous structures of biomorphic ceramics with the therapeutic activity of drugs. There are a large number of natural precursors available to be used as templates to obtain biomorphic silicon carbide ceramics.

As enabling technology, the development and application of multicomponent reactions (MCRs) are now an integral part of the work of any major medical research unit. Targeted MCR approaches focused on specific antimitotic pathways afford new solutions for the medicinal chemistry of the XXI century. In this review, the contribution of these procedures to the discovery of antimitotic drugs that are currently in clinical trials or already in the market is discussed.

An 11-year old boy presented with a 2-month history of mucosa enlargement. Intraoral examination revealed an erythematous, polylobulated, exophytic lesion with a smooth surface located in retromolar mucosa, non-tender and non-infiltratated to palpation.

Objective: The objective of this study was to define the clinical characteristics of osteonecrosis of the jaws (ONJ) induced by oral bisphosphonates in a series of patients from a circumscribed area in northwest Spain.
Study Design: A retrospective multicentre study was undertaken in 3 hospitals in an area with a radius less than 100 km in the Autonomous Community of Galicia (Spain). The medical records were reviewed and an oral examination was performed of patients diagnosed with oral bisphosphonate-related ONJ in the previous 3 years.

An LC-MS/MS method using 0.5 ml of oral fluid was developed for the determination of morphine, codeine, 6-monoacetylmorphine, methadone, amphetamine, methamphetamine, 3,4-methylenedioxyamphetamine, 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, 3,4-methylenedioxy-N-ethylamphetamine, benzoylecgonine, cocaine, delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, zolpidem, zopiclone, alprazolam, clonazepam, oxazepam, nordiazepam, lorazepam, flunitrazepam, diazepam, diphenhydramine and amitriptyline. The method was fully validated in terms of linearity (the method was linear between 1-5 microg/L and 100-200 microg/L) recoveries (7.

The dual purpose of this study was, to evaluate the fracture rate of Ni-Ti rotary instruments when following a manual glide path and using stainless steel hand files before carrying out instrumentation by means of rotary files and, to compare the results in this study with those obtained in two previous analyses, in which the glide path technique was not used. A total of 208 canals obtained from a pool of freshly extracted human mandibular and maxillary molars was divided into three groups corresponding to; K3, ProFile and ProTaper. The coronal 2/3 of each tooth were used.

A diagnosis system for anaerobic wastewater treatment processes is presented. The system is able to recognise the state and trend of the operation and suggest the appropriate control action. The on-line variables measured were gas flow rate and composition (methane and carbon monoxide), feed and recycling flow rates, temperature and pH, while the manipulable inputs are feed, recycling and buffer-addition flow rates.

A new procedure for detecting HRP in nerve tissue is described which is based on the use of pyrocatechol to stabilize the oxidation products of o-tolidine and o-dianisidine in citric acid/ammonium acetate buffer of pH 4.85. In both cases the precipitate obtained is insoluble, stable and more visible than when any variant of the diaminobenzidine method is employed, and the morphological image of neurons and nerve fibres labelled with HRP is superior to that produced by the tetramethylbenzidine/sodium nitroprusside method.
