Forty individuals with type 1 diabetes and thirty healthy people were recruited from the Kurdish population in Erbil, Iraq. Genomic DNA was taken from blood, being genotyped for SNP (single nucleotide polymorphisms).

Cancer Incidence in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq: Results of a Seven-Year Cancer Registration in Erbil and Duhok Governorates.

Introduction: There are limited published data regarding the recent incidence trends of cancer in Iraqi Kurdistan.

Methods: The present study assessed the epidemiological estimates of cancer incidence, as well providing a projection of future cancer trends in the upcoming decade by analysing the population-based cancer registry between 2013 and 2019, in both the Erbil and Duhok governorates. A retrospective analysis was performed on data retrieved from the Medical Statistics Department at the Ministry of Health, Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG).

A Novel β-Thalassemia Mutation, : c.356_357delTT [Codon 118 (-TT)] in an Iraqi Kurd.

We report a novel frameshift β-thalassemia (β-thal) mutation due to a two-nucleotide deletion at codon 118 of the β-globin gene (: c.356_357delTT) in a 4-year-old Iraqi Kurd female presenting as transfusion-dependent β-thal. This frameshift mutation, unlike many others involving the third exon, behaved as a recessive β defect and not as dominant β-thal mutation.

Prevalence of TEM, SHV, and CTX-M Genes among ESBL-Producing and Isolated from Thalassemia Patients in Erbil, Iraq.

In this research work, numerical simulations are performed to correlate the photovoltaic parameters with various internal and external factors influencing the performance of solar cells. Single-diode modeling approach is utilized for this purpose and theoretical investigations are compared with the reported experimental evidences for organic and inorganic solar cells at various electrical and thermal conditions.
