Palladium(II) -cyano-aminothiophenolate (ocap) complexes.

Dalton Trans

December 2022

Department of Chemistry, King's College London, Britannia House, 7 Trinity Street, London SE1 IDB, UK.

A series of Pd(II) complexes containing -cyano-aminothiophenolate (ocap) ligands have been prepared and their molecular structures elucidated. Hg(II) ocap complexes, [Hg{SCHXN(CN)}] (X = H, Me) (1), react with NaS to afford HgS and Na[ocap] which reacts with K[PdCl] to afford palladium ocap complexes [Pd{SCHXN(CN)}] (2). A second route to these coordination polymers has also been developed from reactions of 2-aminobenzothiazole (abt) complexes, -PdCl(abt) (3), with NaOH.

While different studies have investigated the association of SNPs with female reproductive disorders, a limited number of studies have investigated the effect of microRNAs variants in endometriosis. In this study, we evaluated the prevalence and the association of three different miRNAs variants including, miR-27a rs895819, miR-124-1 rs531564, and miR-423 rs6505162 with endometriosis to help further elucidate the importance of these variants in female reproductive disorders. A total number of 440 women (220 cases and 220 controls) were included.

VDR Gene Polymorphisms in Kurdish Population and Its Relation to T1DM in Erbil-Iraq.

Cell Mol Biol (Noisy-le-grand)

May 2022

Department of Biology, Education College, University of Salahaddin, Erbil, Kurdistan Region, Iraq.

This research assessed the relationship among type 1 diabetes VDR gene polymorphisms (ApaI and TaqI) in the Kurdish population in Erbil-Iraq. Forty individuals with type 1 diabetes and thirty healthy people were recruited from the Kurdish population in Erbil, Iraq. Genomic DNA was taken from blood, being genotyped for SNP (single nucleotide polymorphisms).

We report a novel frameshift β-thalassemia (β-thal) mutation due to a two-nucleotide deletion at codon 118 of the β-globin gene (: c.356_357delTT) in a 4-year-old Iraqi Kurd female presenting as transfusion-dependent β-thal. This frameshift mutation, unlike many others involving the third exon, behaved as a recessive β defect and not as dominant β-thal mutation.

The human amylase gene cluster includes the human salivary (AMY1) and pancreatic amylase genes (AMY2A and AMY2B), and is a highly variable and dynamic region of the genome. Copy number variation (CNV) of AMY1 has been implicated in human dietary adaptation, and in population association with obesity, but neither of these findings has been independently replicated. Despite these functional implications, the structural genomic basis of CNV has only been defined in detail very recently.
