Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) has been identified as one of the top ten public health threats facing humanity. The purpose of this study was to assess the effect of an antimicrobial stewardship educational intervention on family caregivers' knowledge and practices in primary healthcare settings in Egypt. A quasi-experimental, one-group pretest-posttest design involving a sample of 300 family caregivers attending family health centers.

Metabolic syndrome during menopause can lead to diabetes, cardiovascular problems, and increased mortality rates. Hormone replacement therapy is recommended to manage climacteric complications, but it has serious adverse effects. This study, therefore, investigated the potential of supplementing some minerals, vitamins, and natural products like boric acid, magnesium, vitamin D3, and extra virgin olive oil on metabolic status of menopausal ovariectomized rats.

Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a neurodegenerative disease that badly impacts patients and their caregivers. AD is characterized by deposition of amyloid beta (Aβ) and phosphorylated tau protein (pTau) in the brain with underlying neuroinflammation. We aimed to develop a neuroprotective paradigm by loading verapamil (VRH) into hyaluronic acid-modified carbon quantum dots (CQDs) and comparing its effectiveness with the free form in an AD-like model in rats induced by lipopolysaccharide (LPS).

This study aims to investigate the molecular mechanisms and the neuroprotective effect of hyaluronic acid modified verapamil-loaded carbon quantum dots (VRH-loaded HA-CQDs) against an in-vitro Alzheimer's disease model induced by amyloid beta (Aβ) in SH-SY5Y and Neuro 2a neuroblastoma cells. Briefly, different HA-CQDs were prepared using hydrothermal method and optimized by Box-Behnken design to maximize quantum yield and minimize particle size. Serum stable negatively charged VRH-loaded HA-CQDs was successfully prepared by admixing the optimized HA-CQDs and VRH with association efficiency and loading capacity of 81.

Neurological injury is a crucial problem that interferes with the therapeutic use of vinca alkaloids as well as the quality of patient life. This study was conducted to assess the impact of using loratadine or diosmin/hesperidin on neuropathy induced by vinca alkaloids. Patients were randomized into one of three groups as follows: group 1 was the control group, group 2 received 450 mg diosmin and 50 mg hesperidin combination orally twice daily, and group 3 received loratadine 10 mg orally once daily.

Drought has a significant impact on rice yield by restricting the crop's ability to grow and develop. Producing rice cultivars adapted to water deficit conditions is still the main interest of rice breeders and geneticists. To address this challenge, a set of 413 highly diverse rice populations were evaluated under normal and water deficit conditions for two growing seasons of 2021 and 2022.

H9N2 avian influenza viruses (AIVs) affect both poultry and humans on a global level, and they are especially prevalent in Egypt. In this study, we sequenced the entire genome of AIV H9N2 isolated from chickens in Egypt in 2021, using next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology. Phylogenetic analysis of the resulting sequences showed that the studied strain was generally monophyletic and grouped within the G1 sublineage of the Eurasian lineage.

The intricate pathogenesis of the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and its progression to hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) have not yet been fully elucidated. H19 is one of the earliest imprinted long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) associated with liver pathobiology. This study investigated the association of H19 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) rs2839698 C/T and rs217727 C/T with HBV and HBV-related HCC and their correlation with H19 expression level.

This research aimed to enhance the nutritional and sensory qualities of Balady bread by adding locally Egyptian buckwheat flours, Fagopyrum esculentum (FE) and Fagopyrum tataricum (FT), to Hard Wheat Flour (HWF) 82% extraction at three levels (10%, 20%, and 30%). The chemical composition, rheological properties, color, sensory evaluation and stalling of the balady bread were determined. The chemical composition of raw materials revealed that FE was significantly (P ≤ 0.

Ribonucleic acids (RNAs) are important regulators of gene expression and crucial for the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This study was designed to determine the diagnostic and prognostic utility of the circulating long miscellaneous RNAs; LINC01419, AK021443, and AF070632 in HCV-related HCC patients. Real-time PCR was used to measure their relative expression levels in the plasma of 194 HCV patients, 120 HCV-related HCC patients and 120 healthy controls.

Background: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is a common neurodegenerative disorder without effective treatment. Thymoquinone (TQ) has demonstrated potential in exhibiting anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and antioxidant characteristics. Despite TQ's neuroprotection effect, there is a scarcity of information regarding its application in AD research, and its molecular trajectories remain ambiguous.

Aluminium (Al) is accumulated in the brain causing neurotoxicity and neurodegenerative disease like Alzheimer's disease (AD), multiple sclerosis, autism and epilepsy. Hence, attenuation of Al-induced neurotoxicity has become a "hot topic" in looking for an intervention that slow down the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. Our study aims to introduce a new strategy for hampering aluminum chloride (AlCl3)-induced neurotoxicity using a combination of sesamol with the probiotic bacteria; and also to test their possible ameliorative effects on AlCl-induced hepatotoxicity.

Doxorubicin (DOX) is a cornerstone chemotherapeutic agent for the treatment of several malignancies such as breast cancer; however, its activity is ameliorated by the development of a resistant phenotype. species have been studied previously for their potential anticancer properties. The current work is aimed to study the potential cytotoxicity and chemomodulatory effects of hypophyllanthin () and phyllanthin () isolated from to DOX against the adriamycin multidrug-resistant breast cancer cells (MCF-7) and elucidate their mechanism of action.

Due to the advances in DNA markers, kompetitive allele-specific PCR (KASP) markers could accelerate breeding programs and genetically improve drought tolerance. Two previously reported KASP markers, and , were investigated in this study for the marker-assisted selection (MAS) of drought tolerance. Two highly diverse spring and winter wheat populations were genotyped using these two KASP markers.

Background: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARSCoV- 2), which is responsible for coronavirus disease (COVID-19), potentially has severe adverse effects, leading to public health crises worldwide. In COVID-19, deficiency of ACE-2 is linked to increased inflammation and cytokine storms via increased angiotensin II levels and decreased ACE-2/Mas receptor axis activity. MiRNAs are small sequences of noncoding RNAs that regulate gene expression by binding to the targeted mRNAs.
