Background: Androgenetic alopecia (AGA) is common. While topical minoxidil remains the only FDA-approved therapeutic for AGA, its efficacy is limited in stimulating clinically significant hair regrowth over the longer term. Oral minoxidil, which is used off-label, is a promising alternative; however, its effectiveness and underlying mechanisms warrant further investigation.

Objectives: This retrospective study, conducted in Turin, Italy, between January 2021 and February 2023, investigates the impact of seasonal heatwaves on emergency department (ED) admissions for mental disorders.
Methods: Through the analysis of data from 2,854 patients, this research found a significant link between the occurrence of heatwaves, especially from June to August, and an elevated rate of ED admissions for psychiatric conditions.
Results: The data indicate a clear seasonal pattern, with admissions peaking during the hot months and diminishing in the colder months.

Pubmed, Medline, CINAHL, PsycInfo and PsycArticles were searched until 16 December 2022. Fourteen systematic reviews and meta-analyses met the inclusion criteria.

Longitudinal studies observed that individuals suffering from insomnia disorder have a higher vulnerability to develop symptoms of psychopathology compared with good sleepers. Particularly, insomnia disorder has been associated with an increased risk for depression. Previous studies indicate relatively stable effects; however, replication is needed as the last meta-analysis on the topic has been published 4 years ago.

We review here literature on how night-time ambient temperature changes affect body temperature and sleep quality. We then discuss how these temperature effects impact particularly vulnerable populations such as older adults, children, pregnant women, and those with psychiatric conditions.
