Crossed renal ectopia: A case report and review of the literature.

Rarely occurring at birth, crossed renal ectopia is an abnormality in which both kidneys occupy the same side of the body while one ureter - its length based on kidney location - traverses across midline to graft into opposite-side bladder. McDonald and McClellan classified renal ectopia into 4 types. Solitary crossed renal ectopia (SCRE) is an extremely uncommon abnormality of the urinary system.

Calamoceras sp. nov. (Trichoptera: Calamoceratidae) from the Western Rif area, Morocco.

We describe a new species of the genus Calamoceras which currently has only two species: Calamoceras illiesi Malicky & Kumanski 1974 and Calamoceras marsupus Brauer 1865. We also discuss its ecology by analyzing some biophysical parameters. The larva and the adult of this new species, Calamoceras riffensis sp.

Psychological Distress Associated with Enforced Hospital Isolation Due to COVID-19 during the "Flatten the Curve" Phase in Morocco: A Single-Center Cross-Sectional Study.

(1) Background: although much research has highlighted the mental health challenges faced by patients in hospital isolation during the COVID-19 pandemic, data from low-middle-income countries, including Morocco, are lacking. The main objective of this study was to assess the psychological distress of patients undergoing enforced hospital isolation during the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in Morocco. (2) Methods: we conducted a cross-sectional study between 1 April and 1 May 2020, among patients hospitalized in isolation for suspected or confirmed COVID-19 at the Ibn Sina University Hospital of Rabat, Morocco.

Association of the Immunity Genes with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus.

Type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1D) is a complicated illness marked by the death of insulin- producing pancreatic beta cells, which ultimately leads to insulin insufficiency and hyperglycemia. T lymphocytes are considered to destroy pancreatic beta cells in the etiology of T1D as a result of hereditary and environmental factors. Although the latter factors are very important causes of T1D development, this disease is very genetically predisposed, so there is a significant genetic component to T1D susceptibility.

Consensus on the definitions and descriptions of the domains of the OMERACT Core Outcome Set for shared decision making interventions in rheumatology trials.

Objective: To gain consensus on the definitions and descriptions of the domains of the Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) core domain set for rheumatology trials evaluating shared decision making (SDM) interventions.

Methods: Following the OMERACT Handbook methods, our Working Group (WG), comprised of 90 members, including 17 patient research partners (PRPs) and 73 clinicians and researchers, had six virtual meetings in addition to email exchanges to develop draft definitions and descriptions. The WG then conducted an international survey of its members to gain consensus on the definitions and descriptions.

Homogenization heat treatment influence on microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of as-cast Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloy for lightweight aerospace application.

Al-Li-Cu-Mg-Zr alloys are widely used in the aerospace industry for different applications and make an excellent concurrent to high-performance composites. This family of alloys has remarkable properties like low density, high elastic modulus, high strength and specific stiffness, fracture toughness, fatigue crack growth resistance, and improved corrosion resistance. The present work aims to investigate a family of Al-Li alloys by employing suitable characterization techniques such as computer-aided cooling curve analysis and thermal dilatometry to characterize the as-cast alloy.

Background: In psychiatry, anatomical abnormalities are sometimes forgotten, and this can mislead doctors into thinking that the diagnosis is purely psychiatric. A physical examination is important whenever it is possible. Even though cerebral arteriovenous malformations (cAVMs) are rare and can go unnoticed, in some cases they can cause clinical symptoms, which is a complication.

Reasons behind permanent tooth extraction at a dental university hospital in Morocco: a survey among patients of the International Faculty of Dental Medicine of Rabat.

Introduction: this cross-sectional study aimed to investigate the factors contributing to tooth extractions and possible correlations between tooth loss and various variables.

Methods: the study took place at the dental university hospital affiliated with the International University of Rabat over a period of two months (December 15, 2020, to February 15, 2021). The data collected has been recorded from patients who had tooth extraction procedures.

In-situ magnetic alginate coated chitosan core@shell beads with excellent performance in simulated and real wastewater treatment: Behavior, mechanisms, and new perspectives.

Herein, a new hybrid magnetic core@shell biocomposite was prepared based on an alginate-bentonite core and a chitosan shell layer (mAB@Cs) where magnetic FeO NPs (50.7 nm) were in-situ generated on the surface via a simple non-thermal co-precipitation approach. The biocomposite has a high ability to magnetically separate and remove organic (ciprofloxacin (CPX)) and seven toxic inorganic (Cu, Cd, Co, Ni, Pb, Zn, and Hg) contaminants from simulated wastewater.

OMERACT Core outcome measurement set for shared decision making in rheumatic and musculoskeletal conditions: a scoping review to identify candidate instruments.

Objectives: Shared decision making (SDM) is a central tenet in rheumatic and musculoskeletal care. The lack of standardization regarding SDM instruments and outcomes in clinical trials threatens the comparative effectiveness of interventions. The Outcome Measures in Rheumatology (OMERACT) SDM Working Group is developing a Core Outcome Set for trials of SDM interventions in rheumatology and musculoskeletal health.

Design of new small molecules derived from indolin-2-one as potent TRKs inhibitors using a computer-aided drug design approach.

Tropomyosin receptor kinase (TRKs) enzymes are responsible for cancers associated with the neurotrophic tyrosine kinase receptor gene fusion and are identified as effective targets for anticancer drug discovery. A series of small-molecule indolin-2-one derivatives showed remarkable biological activity against TRKs enzymatic activity. These small molecules could have an excellent profile for pharmaceutical application in the treatment of cancers caused by TRKs activity.

However, their usage carries significant risks, including site and infusion reactions, serious infections, malignancy, heart failure autoimmune and demyelinating disorders. These risks are comprehensively outlined in risk management plans (RMPs) associated with these molecules.

Layer engineering in optoelectronic and photonic properties of single and few layer phosphorene using first-principles calculations.

Developing devices for optoelectronic and photonic applications-based nanomaterials has been one of the most critical challenges in the last decade. In this work, we use first-principles density functional theory combined with non-equilibrium Green's function to highlight for the first time the sensitivity of optoelectronic and photonic properties toward the exfoliation process. All the studied structures were relaxed and their relevant phonon modes confirm the high structural stability.

It adopts a tri-dimensional framework encompassing economic, social, and environmental aspects, further delineated into eleven sub-dimensions, to provide a quantitative evaluation of sustainable tourism.

Advocacy for Epilepsy Surgery in Africa: Moroccan Experience of 132 Cases.

Background: In Africa, epilepsy is a real burden. Temporal lobe epilepsy is the most common drug-resistant focal epilepsy disorder, and temporal lobectomy is the most common effective treatment for patients with drug-resistant epilepsy.

Objective: We aim to highlight the Moroccan experience in epilepsy surgery and to ascertain its long-term outcome.

Plasma 25-Hydroxyvitamin D and 1,25-Dihydroxyvitamin D Levels in Breast Cancer Risk in Mali: A Case-Control Study.

(1) Background: Breast cancer is the most prevalent cancer found in women in Mali. The aim of the current study was to determine the association between metabolites circulating in the blood, 25(OH)D and 1,25(OH)D, and vitamin D levels with the risk of breast cancer in Malian women. (2) Methods: We conducted a prospective case-control study from August 2021 to March 2022.

Proximate composition, lipid and elemental profiling of eight varieties of avocado (Persea americana).

Eight Moroccan avocado varieties were analyzed for their nutritional composition and physicochemical properties. The nutritional contents of the sample were determined through the evaluation of the moisture, oil, ash, protein, and carbohydrate contents, and energy value calculation. Additionally, macroelements (Ca, Mg, and Na) and microelements (Fe, Zn, Cu, and Mn) were determined in the mineral profile.
