McConnell's patellar taping is indicated for the treatment of women with Patellofemoral Pain Syndrome, however the literature points to controversial evidence, and does not establish the effect on postural control. This is a randomized trial study that aimed to compare the effect of McConnell taping (MT) with a Placebo taping (PT), during functional tasks that assess dynamic postural control, such as squatting and ascending/descending stairs, using a force platform among women with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS). This study examines the efficacy of icephobic polyurethane nanocomposite coatings in mitigating corrosion on an aluminum substrate. A titanium-based conversion coating is applied to modify the substrate, and the research focuses on optimizing the dual functionalities of icephobicity and anticorrosion within the polyurethane coatings while ensuring strong substrate adhesion. The coatings are formulated using fluoropolyol, isocyanate, and silica nanoparticles treated with polydimethylsiloxane.

Superhydrophobic coatings can be a suitable solution for protecting vulnerable electrical infrastructures in regions with severe meteorological conditions. Regenerative superhydrophobicity, the ability to regain superhydrophobicity after being compromised or degraded, could address the issue of the low durability of these coatings. In this study, we fabricated a superhydrophobic coating comprising hydrophobic aerogel microparticles and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-modified silica nanoparticles within a PDMS matrix containing trifluoropropyl POSS (F-POSS) and XIAMETER PMX-series silicone oil as superhydrophobicity-regenerating agents.

Improved prediction of individual traits has been obtained by combining predictors of multiple genetically correlated traits derived from summary statistics produced by genome-wide association studies, compared with single trait predictors. We extend this idea to penalized regression on summary statistics in Multivariate Lassosum, expressing regression coefficients for the multiple traits on single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) as correlated random effects, similarly to multi-trait summary statistic best linear unbiased predictors (MT-SBLUPs).

An increasing number of clinical research studies have used repetitive peripheral magnetic stimulation (rPMS) in recent years to alleviate pain or improve motor function. rPMS is non-invasive, painless, and administrated over peripheral nerve, spinal cord roots, or a muscle using a coil affixed to the skin and connected to a rapid-rate magnetic stimulator. Despite the clinical impact and scientific interest, the methodological inconsistencies or incomplete details and findings between studies could make the rPMS demonstration difficult to replicate.

In this paper, a new flexible wearable radio frequency identification (RFID) five-shaped slot patch tag placed on the human arm is designed for ultra-high frequency (UHF) healthcare sensing applications. The compact proposed tag consists of a patch structure provided with five shaped slot radiators and a flexible substrate, which minimize the human body's impact on the antenna radiation performance. We have optimized our designed tag using the particle swarm optimization (PSO) method with curve fitting within MATLAB to minimize antenna parameters to achieve a good return loss and an attractive radiation performance in the operating band.
