The study focused on the epidemiology and management of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) among hospitalized patients in Puerto Rico, highlighting the limited research on coronary artery disease in Hispanics.
The analysis included over 6,000 patients from multiple hospitals across three years, revealing that the average age of those with AMI was 67, with notable differences in risk factors and treatment between men and women.
It concluded that urgent efforts are needed to address gender disparities in treatment and improve health outcomes for AMI patients in Puerto Rico.
