Camera trapping has become increasingly common in ecological studies, but is hindered by analyzing large datasets. Recently, artificial intelligence (deep learning models in particular) has emerged as a promising solution. However, applying deep learning for images processing is complex and often requires programming skills in Python, reducing its accessibility.

Thus, it can be expected that seed germination phenology has adapted to maximise recruitment during the season of highest water availability. Cold-cued and slow germination (i.

Besides official medicine, complementary and alternative medicine practices, including old herbal remedies, are widely used and accepted as additional tools in cancer treatment. Nakai (AGN), a medicinal herb in Asia, has roots historically used in medicine.

Here, the authors continue in the direction of recent developments and present the first AR system for guiding an in-depth tumour enucleation procedure under US guidance. The system features an innovative visualisation modality with cutting trajectories that 'sink' into the tissue according to the depth reached by the electric scalpel, tracked in real-time, and a virtual-to-virtual alignment between the scalpel's tip and the trajectory.

Aims: The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI) Scientific Initiatives Committee performed a global survey on radiation exposure in interventional echocardiography. The survey aimed to collect data on local practices for radioprotection in interventional echocardiography and to assess the awareness of echocardiography operators about radiation-related risks.
Methods And Results: A total of 258 interventional echocardiographers from 52 different countries (48% European) responded to the survey.
The most appropriate management of recurrent Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) lesions consists of wide surgical removal of the lesions with subsequent healing by second intention. Successful wound healing depends on the choice of an adequate wound dressing, targeted to the features of the wound. We enrolled 25 patients randomized into three groups according to the advanced dressing used in second intention healing of postsurgical wounds (standard therapy, an oxygen-enriched oil-based medical device with prolonged release of reactive oxygen species [ROS], ultra-portable negative pressure therapy).

Introduction: The Italian National Health Service (SSN) is currently grappling. with a complex situation, characterized by a persistent shortage of medical personnel and the divergent aspirations of young medical graduates. Additionally, recent regulatory developments concerning specialist training further contribute to the intricacies of the landscape, calling for a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and opportunities within the sector.

Background: To date, a few studies have systematically investigated differences in the clinical spectrum between acquired and idiopathic dystonias.
Objectives: To compare demographic data and clinical features in patients with adult-onset acquired and idiopathic dystonias.
Methods: Patients were identified from among those included in the Italian Dystonia Registry, a multicenter Italian dataset of patients with adult-onset dystonia.

Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) is a heterogeneous syndrome resulting from the interaction between cardiac diseases, comorbidities and ageing. HFpEF is characterised by the activation of neurohormonal axes, namely of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system and the sympathetic nervous system, although to a lesser extent compared with heart failure with reduced ejection fraction. This provides a rationale for neurohormonal modulation as a therapeutic approach for HFpEF.

Loss of deep pain perception is a well-documented negative prognostic indicator in dogs with TL-IVDE. The objectives of this study were to report the rate of return of deep pain perception and independent ambulation in surgically treated, paraplegic, deep pain perception negative French bulldogs with TL-IVDEs.

Background: Effects of dopaminergic medications used to treat Parkinson's disease (PD) may be compared with each other by using conversion factors, calculated as Levodopa equivalent dose (LED). However, current LED proposals on MAO-B inhibitors (iMAO-B) safinamide and rasagiline are still based on empirical approaches.
Objectives: To estimate LED of safinamide 50 and 100 mg.

Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has changed the epidemiology of acute respiratory infections (ARIs) in children. The aims of the present study were to describe the epidemiological trend of ARI emergency visits and virology results prior and after the SARS-CoV-2 emergence and to estimate the association of ARI emergency department (ED) visits with respiratory viruses.
Methods: This study was conducted at the Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital, a tertiary care children's hospital in the Lazio Region, Italy.

Despite progress in genomic characterization, no single prognostic marker that can be evaluated using an easy-to-perform and relatively inexpensive method is available for pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC). MicroRNAs, which are stable, tumor- and tissue-specific molecules, are potentially ideal biomarkers, and we established an inter-laboratory validated method to investigate miR-21 as a prognostic biomarker in PDAC. The study samples of PDAC patients were recruited from a test cohort of Glasgow (n = 189) and three validation cohorts of Pisa (n = 69), Sydney (n = 249), and International Cancer Genome Consortium (ICGC) (n = 249).

Ramucirumab plus paclitaxel is considered the standard of care in the second-line treatment of gastric carcinoma (GC). The aim of this study was to evaluate plasma vascular endothelial growth factor-A (VEGF-A), VEGF-D, and circulating soluble VEGF receptor-2 (sVEGFR-2) as possible markers of resistance or response to ramucirumab administered with paclitaxel in pretreated metastatic GC patients. Plasma samples were collected at different time points (on days 1 and 15 of the first 3 cycles, at best radiologic response and at disease progression).

This entity remains highly debated, but recent findings suggesting that DAT-SPECT does not reflect either nigral cell bodies or striatal fibers of dopaminergic nigrostriatal neurons could improve our understanding of SWEDDs. Notably, compensatory downregulation of DAT in the early stages of PD seems to be less efficient in older-onset than in young-onset patients.

Pirfenidone (PFD) slows the progression of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) by inhibiting the exaggerated fibrotic response and possibly through additional mechanisms, such as anti-inflammatory effects. PFD has also been evaluated in other fibrosing lung diseases. Myocardial fibrosis is a common feature of several heart diseases and the progressive deposition of extracellular matrix due to a persistent injury to cardiomyocytes may trigger a vicious cycle that leads to persistent structural and functional alterations of the myocardium.

Background: Rapid advances in neuroimaging technologies in the exploration of the living human brain also apply to movement disorders. However, the accurate diagnosis of Parkinson's disease (PD) and atypical parkinsonian disorders (APDs) still remains a challenge in daily practice.
Methods: We review the literature and our own experience as the Movement Disorder Society-Neuroimaging Study Group in Movement Disorders with the aim of providing a practical approach to the use of imaging technologies in the clinical setting.
The COVID-19 pandemic is still ravaging the planet, but its (short-, medium-, and long-term) diverse effects on health, economy, and society are far from being understood. This article investigates the potential impact of a deadly epidemic and its main nonpharmaceutical control interventions (social distancing vs. testing-tracing-isolation, TTI) on capital accumulation and economic development at different time scales.

Background: The differentiation of functional dystonia from idiopathic dystonia may be clinically challenging.
Objective: To identify clinical features suggestive of functional dystonia to guide physicians to distinguish functional dystonia from idiopathic dystonia.
Methods: Patient data were extracted from the Italian Registry of Functional Motor Disorders and the Italian Registry of Adult Dystonia.
Background: Relapsed or refractory (R/R) mantle-cell lymphoma (MCL) patients have a poor prognosis and their management is challenging, in absence of a golden standard as salvage treatment. Bruton's tyrosine kinase inhibitor ibrutinib represents an effective treatment for R/R MCL patients. We investigated ibrutinib efficacy and safety in daily clinical practice, together with factors that could predict disease outcome.
