Objectives: Consideration of the need to strengthen the commitment of professionals to the good care of the older population in hospitals has been emerging over the last several years. The steering committee of the geriatric sector of the hospitals of our Hospital Consortium (HC) has structured an accreditation project to promote the commitment of professionals to the good care of older adult patients in hospitals: the "Hospital Attentive to the Elder" (HAE) accreditation. This global approach aims to better adapt care to the needs of this population in the hospital and promote positive values (eg, kindness, attentive support).

Background And Objectives: Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is a well-established treatment for Parkinson disease (PD), with programming methods continually evolving. This study aimed to compare the efficacy and patient burden between conventional ring-mode programming (CP-RM) and image-guided volume of tissue activated (IG-VTA) programming for subthalamic nucleus (STN) DBS in PD.
Methods: In this retrospective study, patients with PD who underwent STN-DBS between 2011 and 2014 (CP-RM group) and 2019 and 2021 (IG-VTA group) were evaluated.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Pelvic floor muscles (PFMs) are involved in respiratory mechanisms. Additionally, stress urinary incontinence (SUI) can affect physical function. This randomized controlled trial was aimed at investigating the effects of inspiratory muscle training (IMT) on SUI severity, PFM function, and physical function in Tunisian women with SUI.

This dataset was developed by COST Action 19112 Women on the Move (WEMov), which engages in unveiling women migrants' presence and participation in the construction of Europe. The dataset was built as a register of toponyms and monuments in the political and public landscape in Europe - such as street names, school names and parks, as well as statues and memorials - that celebrate women migrants. With the dataset we want to discover how women migrants are remembered and what kind of landmarks present these individuals who have had an episode of migration for a variety of reasons.

Ever since 2018 France has been the only country to approve the gamma aminobutyric acid type B (GABA-B) receptor agonist baclofen for alcohol dependence. This authorization follows a ten-year period of intensive off-label use during which baclofen was used in doses of up to 300 and even 400mg per day to support the gradual reduction of alcohol consumption in patients suffering from alcohol dependence. However, in international clinical trials, baclofen has mainly been studied to support the maintenance of abstinence.

Background: The way that pain is assessed in the PACU could impact on postoperative pain and analgesic consumption. However, there is currently no evidence to support this speculation. The authors hypothesised that using a comfort scale reduces postoperative opioid consumption when compared with a standard numerical rating scale (NRS) to evaluate pain in the PACU.

Introduction: Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HCST) is a widely used therapy in the management of hematological malignancies, leading to cytopenias that require transient transfusions. Platelet recovery (PR) following HSCT is assessed by monitoring platelet count (PC). Immature platelet fraction (IPF) is a research parameter offered by Sysmex® on XN series analyzers, enabling rapid diagnostic orientation in the event of thrombocytopenia.

Purpose: Idiopathic Normal pressure hydrocephalus (iNPH) is an under-diagnosed in elderly patients but none of the diagnostic tests are currently sufficiently sensitive or specific. The objective of this study was to analyze the dynamics of neurofluids by PC-MRI in relation to clinical evolution as measured using the iNPH grading scale after tap-test.
Method: We prospectively included patients with suspected iNPH.

Background And Aims: Severe tricuspid regurgitation is associated with increased mortality rates, but benefit of its correction and ideal timing are not clearly determined. This study aimed to identify patient subsets who might benefit from the surgery.
Methods: In TRIGISTRY, an international cohort study of consecutive patients with severe isolated functional tricuspid regurgitation (33 centres, 10 countries), survival rates up to 10 years were compared between patients who underwent isolated tricuspid valve surgery (repair or replacement) and those conservatively managed, overall and according to TRI-SCORE category (low: ≤3, intermediate: 4-5, and high: ≥6).

Background & Aims: There is limited understanding of the benefits of alcohol rehabilitation after alcohol hepatitis (AH).
Methods: We conducted a 2012 to 2021 national longitudinal study involving adult inpatients diagnosed with AH in France. We assessed the primary outcome of liver transplantation or death within 1 year after AH, including in its complicated form (CAH) defined as ≥2 hepatic or extrahepatic complications within 4 weeks after AH.

The antioxidant action of terngymnoside C () and hydroxytyrosol-1-glucoside (), isolated for the first time from the flower buds of , as well as katsumadin (), obtained from the seedless fruits, was evaluated using ABTS and HO- models. In silico docking analysis of , , and determined their affinity forces to the aquaporin monomers of the modeled protein 3 (AQP3) and human protein 7 (AQP7) channels that regulate the HO cell transport. The ABTS antiradical capacity of these compounds showed IC values of 22.

The optimization of existing natural antioxidants that are highly effective is crucial for advancements in medicine and the food industry. Due to growing concerns regarding the safety of synthetic antioxidants, researchers are increasingly focusing on natural sources, particularly essential oils (EOs). Combining EOs might enhance antioxidant activity due to increased chemical diversity.

Climate change has triggered poleward expansions in the distributions of various taxonomic groups, including tree species. Given the ecological significance of trees as keystone species in forests and their socio-economic importance, projecting the potential future distributions of tree species is crucial for devising effective adaptation strategies for both biomass production and biodiversity conservation in future forest ecosystems. Here, we fitted physiographically informed habitat suitability models (HSMs) at 50-m resolution across Sweden (55-68° N) to estimate the potential northward expansion of seven broadleaved tree species within their leading-edge distributions in Europe under different future climate change scenarios and for different time periods.

Urbanization impacts plant-herbivore interactions, which are crucial for ecosystem functions such as carbon sequestration and nutrient cycling. While some studies have reported reductions in insect herbivory in urban areas (relative to rural or natural forests), this trend is not consistent and the underlying causes for such variation remain unclear. We conducted a continental-scale study on insect herbivory along urbanization gradients for three European tree species: Quercus robur, Tilia cordata, and Fraxinus excelsior, and further investigated their biotic and abiotic correlates to get at mechanisms.

Intracellular cholesterol metabolism is regulated by the SREBP-2 and LXR signaling pathways. The effects of inflammation on these molecular mechanisms remain poorly studied, especially at the blood-brain barrier (BBB) level. Tumor necrosis factor α (TNFα) is a proinflammatory cytokine associated with BBB dysfunction.

Epidemiological and translational data increasingly implicate environmental pollutants in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). Indeed, the global incidence of IBD has been rising, particularly in developing countries, in parallel with the increased use of chemicals and synthetic materials in daily life and escalating pollution levels. Recent nationwide and ecological studies have reported associations between agricultural pesticides and IBD, particularly Crohn's disease.

Developing advanced systems for 3D brain tissue segmentation from neonatal magnetic resonance (MR) images is vital for newborn structural analysis. However, automatic segmentation of neonatal brain tissues is challenging due to smaller head size and inverted T1/T2 tissue contrast compared to adults. In this work, a subject-specific atlas based technique is presented for segmentation of gray matter (GM), white matter (WM), and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from neonatal MR images.
