Objective: To determine the impact of the SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) pandemic and lockdowns on the mental health status, training, perceptions of the physiotherapy profession, and career plans of French physiotherapy students.

Design: A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted, representing the first and only survey of its kind, using a national online survey.

Subjects: A total of 2678 French physiotherapy students participated in the study.

Successful prophylaxis of ESBL Enterobacteriaceae repetitive urinary tract infections with subcutaneous temocillin: a case report.

Objectives: Temocillin is an antibiotic belonging to the β-lactam family, introduced in 1988 but soon forgotten because of its narrow spectrum. Recently, it has been repurposed for its effectiveness against ESBL Enterobacteriaceae, and represents an alternative of choice to carbapenems due to its limited impact on the microbiota.

Patient: We present here a successful case of antibiotic prophylaxis of recurrent ESBL urinary tract infections with subcutaneously administered temocillin.

Background: In two-stage hepatectomy for bilobar liver metastases from colorectal cancer, future liver remnant (FLR) growth can be achieved using several techniques, such as right portal vein ligation (RPVL) or right portal vein embolization (RPVE). A few heterogeneous studies have compared these two techniques with contradictory results concerning FLR growth. The objective of this study was to compare FLR hypertrophy of the left hemi-liver after RPVL and RPVE.

Introduction: Bicuspid aortic valve (BAV) is the most common congenital heart disease with an increased risk of infective endocarditis (IE). Few data are available on isolated native BAV-IE. Pendrin (SLC26A4) is an anion exchanger from the SLC26 transporter family which is mutated in human patients affected by Pendred syndrome, an autosomal recessive disease characterized by sensoneurinal deafness and hypothyroidism. Pendrin is also expressed in the kidney where it mediates the exchange of internal HCO for external Cl at the apical surface of renal type B and non-A non-B-intercalated cells. Studies using pendrin knockout mice have first revealed that pendrin is essential for renal base excretion.

Applied improvisation and transdisciplinary simulation: a necessity for any health curriculum?

From practising a procedure, such as a lumbar puncture, to explaining the aim and method and listening to concerns, the practice of health professionals requires a range of skills, often classified into technical and non-technical skills. Just as gestures and procedures can be taught, so can empathy and communication skills. This article introduces an innovative approach that unites both necessary types of skills.

Bone health in children with severe cerebral palsy.

Aim: To describe bone health and associated factors in children with severe cerebral palsy.

Method: In a retrospective, single-centre study, we performed a comprehensive bone evaluation (including clinical, densitometric and bone biomarker assessments) of children with severe cerebral palsy.

Results: None of the 19 included children had a normal BMC Z score, and only one had a BMD Z score greater than -2.

Comparison of two RT-qPCR methods targeting BK polyomavirus microRNAs in kidney transplant recipients.

Background: BK polyomavirus replication leads to progressive tubulointerstitial nephritis and ureteral stenosis, with a considerable risk of subsequent graft failure in kidney transplant recipients. Since specific antiviral therapies are lacking, new tools are required to enhance the biological monitoring of the infection. Viral microRNAs are promising new biomarkers, but the performance of RT-qPCR methods limits the clinical application and the validation of a standard method for quantification.

Impact of Preformed Donor-Specific Anti-HLA-Cw and Anti-HLA-DP Antibodies on Acute Antibody-Mediated Rejection in Kidney Transplantation.

Given the risk of rejection, the presence of preformed donor specific antibodies (DSA) contraindicates transplantation in most allocation systems. However, HLA-Cw and -DP DSA escape this censorship. We performed a multicentric observational study, in which the objective was to determinate risk factors of acute antibody-mediated rejection (aABMR) in recipients transplanted with preformed isolated Cw- or DP-DSA.

Magnetic, Antiferroelectric-like Behavior and Resistance Switching Properties in BiFeO-CaMnO Polycrystalline Thin Films.

The effect of ferromagnetic CaMnO (CMO) addition to structural, magnetic, dielectric, and ferroelectric properties of BiFeO is presented. X-ray diffraction and Raman investigation allowed the identification of a single pseudocubic perovskite structure. The magnetic measurement showed that the prepared films exhibit a ferromagnetic behavior at a low temperature with both coercive field and remnant magnetization increased with increasing CMO content.

To accurately capture this information, it is essential to use tools that can monitor occupant habits without altering them.

Histological healing induced by tofacitinib in ulcerative colitis: A multicentre study.

Background: While the efficacy of tofacitinib to induce and maintain clinical and endoscopic remission is well established in ulcerative colitis (UC), little is known about its efficacy to induce histological remission.

Methods: We conducted a retrospective multicentric cohort study. UC patients ≥ 16 years treated by tofacitinib in whom histological activity has been evaluated before and after induction were eligible.

Evaluation of the ABL NGS assay for HIV-1 drug resistance testing.

HIV evolution and variability around the world requires special monitoring of the viral strains in infected people. High-throughput HIV sequencing and drug resistance testing techniques have become routinely available over the last few years. We conducted a study to assess the new CE-marked ABL NGS HIV genotyping assay on an Illumina® platform, to compare the results (the detection of resistance associated mutations (RAMs) detected in the three main targets: reverse transcriptase, protease, and integrase) with those produced by three Sanger-based assays, and to compare the assays' respective costs.
