Aim: The aim of this study is to evaluate and compare root canal transportation, centering ability, and amount of dentin removed after root instrumentation with different rotary and reciprocating systems, using micro-computed tomography (micro-CT).
Materials And Methods: Forty curved mesial canals of lower molars were selected and divided into four experimental groups ( = 10) according to the system used: protaper next (PTN), wave one gold (WOG), prodesign logic (LOG), and vortex blue (VTX). The roots were scanned before and after instrumentation using micro-CT, with a 16 μm isotropic resolution.

The study aimed to carry out a comparative analysis between the lip print patterns in individuals with Down Syndrome and their nonsyndromic biological siblings. This was a cross-sectional blind study using an inductive approach and extensive direct observation procedures. A total of 68 cheiloscopic charts, named cheilograms, were divided into two groups (n=34), as follows: G1, including Down Syndrome individuals; and G2, including their nonsyndromic siblinggs.

Aim: The objective of the study is to evaluate the cervicalapical sealing of bulk-fill flow resins associated with a universal adhesive system, in endodontically treated teeth, considering two methods of evaluation.
Materials And Methods: The samples used in the bacterial leakage analysis were autoclaved, filled inside a laminar flow chamber, and divided into four experimental groups (n = 8) according to the restorative material: Filtek Bulk-fill flow; Surefil SDR flow; TetricEvoflow and the positive control. The samples were inoculated with the ( every 7 days and the microleakage was evaluated on a daily basis for 60 days.

Parkinson's disease (PD) is a multisystem disorder that affects 2-3% of the population ≥ 65 years of age. The main pharmacologic agent use in the treatment of clinical symptoms of PD is levodopa (L-DOPA). However, the chronic use of L-DOPA might result in the emergence of motor complications such as motor fluctuation and dyskinesia.

Objectives: To compare the remaining root canal filling material, dentin removal, apical transportation, and apical extrusion of debris after the retreatment of canals filled with bioceramic or resin-based sealers using the Reciproc or Reciproc Blue instruments.
Materials And Methods: Sixty mandibular molars with severely curved mesial roots were selected. The samples were initially instrumented with Reciproc (R25) and then divided into four experimental groups according to the endodontic sealer and retreatment instrument (n = 15): BC Sealer/Reciproc (BCRC), BC Sealer/Reciproc Blue (BCRB), AH Plus/Reciproc (AHRC), and AH Plus/Reciproc Blue (AHRB).

Introduction And Hypothesis: Obesity and overweight are strongly associated with stress and urgency urinary incontinence, and weight loss has been associated with improvement in urinary incontinence. We aimed to measure pooled effect sizes for different weight loss procedures on incontinence-specific quality of life and incontinence cure rate in a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods: MEDLINE, Embase and the Cochrane library were searched using a pre-defined strategy for relevant cohort studies.

Polymorphisms in the structural gene MBL-2 (mannose-binding lectin-2) may result in low MBL serum concentration, associated with greater susceptibility to infection. The study evaluated the effects of MBL-2 polymorphisms with the oral manifestations of the HSV in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-infected patients. An observational case-control study was carried out, with the sample comprising 64 HIV+ and 65 healthy individuals.

A new collagenase producing a strain of , isolated from the pollen of a bee of Amazon Region (Brazil), had its enzyme characterized and the production medium composition and culture conditions enhanced. A two-level design on three factors, namely initial medium pH, the substrate (gelatin) concentration and agitation intensity, allowed identifying the first two variables as the most significant ones, while a central composite design (CCD) was subsequently used to identify their optimal levels. Statistics highlighted maximized collagenolytic activity when substrate concentration and initial medium pH were selected at their highest levels (positive effects), whereas agitation intensity at the lowest (negative effect).

Cardiovascular diseases are the major causes of preventable health loss from disease in the world and lead to functional disturbances including hematological parameters. The inflammatory and hypoxemic nature of cardiovascular diseases causes a stimulus in the bone marrow and, depending on the intensity of this stimulus, there is a release of immature cells or increase of other cells in the bloodstream. Therefore, their presence in the circulation is an important variable used to diagnose, stratify and predict diseases.

Visual hallucinations are significant nonmotor symptoms in the course of treatment of Parkinson's disease. Previous studies have shown that the interindividual variability and pharmacogenetic profile of Parkinson's disease patients seem to influence the occurrence of visual hallucinations. In our study, we investigated a possible relationship of sequence variants in DRD1, DRD2, DRD3, DAT1, and COMT genes with the presence of visual hallucinations in Parkinson's disease patients.

Post-transcriptional regulatory elements associated with transcript degradation or transcript instability have been described at the 3' untranslated region (3'UTR) of the HLA-G gene. Considering that HPV infection and aneuploidy, which causes gene instability, are associated with cervical cell malignancy, as well as the fact that HIV infection and HLA-G may modulate the immune response, the present study aimed to compare the frequencies of HLA-G 3'UTR polymorphic sites (14-base pair insertion/deletion, +3142C/G, and +3187A/G) between 226 HIV+ women co-infected (n = 82) or not with HPV (n = 144) and 138 healthy women. We also evaluated the relationship between those HLA-G 3'UTR variants and aneuploidy in cervical cells.
