Purpose: To investigate the effects of different surface treatments and thermal cycling on the shear bond strength between 3D-printed teeth and denture bases.

Material And Methods: For the shear bond strength (SBS) test, the specimens were the maxillary central incisors (11 × 9 × 7 mm) bonded on a cylindrical base (20 × 25 mm). The control group was heat-cured polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) (N = 20).

Article Synopsis
  • The study evaluated the microhardness, sorption, solubility, color stability, and cytotoxicity of three resin composites: self-adhesive (SARC), bulk-fill, and conventional types.
  • Results indicated that self-adhesive composites (like Dyad Flow) had lower microhardness and higher sorption and solubility compared to bulk-fill and conventional types, and all types were deemed non-cytotoxic to Vero cells.
  • While the SARC offers a simpler clinical application, its inferior physical characteristics suggest the need for additional coverage to enhance performance in restorative procedures.

Objective: Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is characterized by a state of hypermetabolism after exposure to halogenated inhalational anesthetics or succinylcholine. The aims of this study were to carry out an updated review on the subject and report an illustrative case of MH in urgent maxillofacial surgery.

Material And Methods: A search of the PubMed/MEDLINE database using the keyword "malignant hyperthermia" was performed including articles published over the last 11 years in English, Spanish or Portuguese.

Background: Teeth with severe crown destruction and endodontically treated may or may not present a circular strip of dental tissue located in the cervical region called ferrule.

Aims: The aims of this study were to evaluate ferrule thickness influence on endodontically treated teeth (ETT) resistance to fracture.

Materials And Methods: A total of 30 bovine incisor teeth were selected, endodontically treated and randomly distributed, according to the ferrule thickness: G1- no ferrule, G2 - 1 mm, and G3 - 2 mm.

Herein, the effect of different post-pressing times and pressure in two cycles of polymerization on the degree of conversion (DC) of thermally activated acrylic resin (TRRA) is analyzed to optimize the polymerization of this material. After post-pressing for 0, 6, or 12 h, polymerization was performed with or without a pressure of 60 psi (0.41 MPa) in a short (4 h) or a long (11 h) cycle, totaling 12 groups.

Self-adhesive resin cements represents a new approach in indirect restorative dentistry, although little is known about its biological properties. The influence of the curing strategy on the biological response of a self-adhesive resin cement (Rely-X Unicem/3M ESPE) was evaluated through methyltetrazolium (MTT) and nitric oxide (NOx) assays. Cylindrical specimens (n = 48) were prepared and cured according to the following strategies: photoactivation with halogen light-curing unit (LCU) Demetron/Kerr, LED LCU Radii/SDI, and chemical activation.
