Background: Modern techniques in lower extremity amputation have made significant advances to improve prosthetic control and soft-tissue envelopes through various techniques, including medial thighplasties. These advances are necessary to enhance the fit and functionality of the prosthesis in transfemoral amputations.

Methods: We performed a retrospective review of all thighplasties performed at our institution in patients with ipsilateral transfemoral amputation from November 2017 to December 2021.

Previously, we found that retinas of young male mice were more damaged than those of young female mice in the sodium iodate (NaIO) model. The purpose of this study was to test whether reducing testosterone levels would be retina-protective. Introduction: The clinical, research and advocacy communities for Rett syndrome are striving to achieve clinical trial readiness, including having fit-for-purpose clinical outcome assessments. This study aimed to (1) describe psychometric properties of clinical outcome assessment for Rett syndrome and (2) identify what is needed to ensure that fit-for-purpose clinical outcome assessments are available for clinical trials.

Methods: Clinical outcome assessments for the top 10 priority domains identified in the Voice of the Patient Report for Rett syndrome were compiled and available psychometric data were extracted.

Due to the lack of prospective studies regarding treatment of hepatic sarcoidosis with ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA), we set out to evaluate its effects in a single-center, open-label, prospective, pre-post study.

Integrating Patient-Generated Digital Data Into Mental Health Therapy: Mixed Methods Analysis of User Experience.

Background: Therapists and their patients increasingly discuss digital data from social media, smartphone sensors, and other online engagements within the context of psychotherapy.

Objective: We examined patients' and mental health therapists' experiences and perceptions following a randomized controlled trial in which they both received regular summaries of patients' digital data (eg, dashboard) to review and discuss in session. The dashboard included data that patients consented to share from their social media posts, phone usage, and online searches.

Concurrent symptom domains and associations with recovery timelines among collegiate athletes with sport-related concussion.

Objective: Concussion symptoms can be clustered into domains and understanding how multiple symptom domains present clinically may guide more accurate interventions. We investigate the associations between concurrent symptom domains and clinical recovery outcomes, as well as the role of sex in these relationships.

Methods: We analysed data from the Ivy League-Big Ten Epidemiology of Concussion Study and included sport-related concussions (SRC) across five academic years 2015-2016/2019-2020 with complete data (n=1160).

Postpartum Readmissions Among Patients with Adult Congenital Heart Disease.

Background: Given risks associated with CHD in the postpartum period, epidemiologic data identifying risk factors and timing of complications may be useful in improving postpartum care.

Objective: The objectives of this study were to determine timing of, risk factors for, and complications associated with 60-day postpartum readmissions following deliveries with maternal congenital heart disease (CHD).

Study Design: The 2010-2020 Nationwide Readmissions Database was used for this retrospective cohort study.

Methodology for determining minimally clinically important differences in acute pain intensity with the double stopwatch technique.

Minimum clinically important differences (MCIDs) in acute pain intensity have not been well established. Conventional approaches for estimating MCIDs require an independent reference scale, with a threshold that must be presumed to accurately classify meaningful change in pain for all study participants, to serve as an anchor. The double stopwatch technique is the gold standard for measuring the time to meaningful relief, where participants actively press the second stopwatch when they experience pain relief that is meaningful to them.

Association between Childhood Trauma, Mental Health Symptoms and Adherence Among Youth Living with HIV in Botswana.

Background: People living with HIV experience traumatic incidents at higher rates than the general population; and research has documented significant association between trauma exposure and the development of mental disorders. Mental health problems have a a negative impact on anti-retroviral treatment adherence. All of these psychosocial concerns play a role in potentially increasing HIV transmission to sexual partners resulting in increased incidence rates.
