Methods of calculating and reporting dose intensity (DI) of CHOP-based protocols in the veterinary literature vary. The goal of this retrospective study is to examine the prognostic significance of the average percentage of planned DI received in a cohort of canine T-cell lymphoma patients treated with a modified CHOP protocol with corresponding toxicity and efficacy data. Our data set of 40 dogs was analysed using various previously published methods for calculating DI.

Ceratopsian dinosaurs arguably show some of the most extravagant external cranial morphology across all Dinosauria. For over a century, ceratopsian dinosaurs have inspired a multitude of cranial functional studies as more discoveries continued to depict a larger picture of the enormous diversity of these animals. The iconic horns and bony frills in many ceratopsians portray a plethora of shapes, sizes, and arrangements across taxa, and their overall feeding apparatus show the development of unique specializations previously unseen in large herbivores.

Interleukin-18 (IL-18) promotes natural killer (NK) and T cell production of interferon (IFN)-γ, a key factor in resistance to Toxoplasma gondii, but previous work has shown a limited role for endogenous IL-18 in control of this parasite. Although infection with T. gondii results in release of IL-18, the production of IFN-γ induces high levels of the IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP).

A 5-year-old imported Zangersheide gelding was evaluated for SC swellings over both forelimbs and lameness localized to the distal metacarpus. Ultrasound examination of the SC masses was compatible with verminous granulomas. Current therapeutic strategies for treating nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) have failed to alleviate liver fibrosis, which is a devastating feature leading to hepatic dysfunction. Here, we integrated single-nucleus transcriptomics and epigenomics to characterize all major liver cell types during NASH development in mice and humans. The bifurcation of hepatocyte trajectory with NASH progression was conserved between mice and humans.

Articular cartilage derives its load-bearing strength from the mechanical and physiochemical coupling between the collagen network and negatively charged proteoglycans, respectively. Current disease modeling approaches and treatment strategies primarily focus on cartilage stiffness, partly because indentation tests are readily accessible. Histamine-2 receptor antagonists such as famotidine and proton pump inhibitors such as esomeprazole are commonly used in canine MCT disease, but direct effects on dog MCs have not been evaluated. Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which has been demonstrated to cause structural and functional changes to in vitro murine mast cells (MCs). Selective breeding of domestic dogs has generated diverse breeds often optimized for performing specialized tasks. Despite the heritability of breed-typical behavioral traits, identification of causal loci has proven challenging due to the complexity of canine population structure. We overcome longstanding difficulties in identifying genetic drivers of canine behavior by developing a framework for understanding relationships between breeds and the behaviors that define them, utilizing genetic data for over 4,000 domestic, semi-feral, and wild canids and behavioral survey data for over 46,000 dogs.

Objectives: The clinical differences between species bacteriuria compared with other bacteria has been reported in a small number of cats. The objective of this study was to compare a large number of cats with species bacteriuria to cats with other bacteriuria and determine the clinical differences. It was hypothesized that enterococcal bacteriuria would be associated with subclinical bacteriuria and polymicrobial infections more than other bacteriuria, and that when local or systemic comorbidities were present, enterococcal bacteriuria would be more common.
