Nurses are in a key position to identify and treat urinary incontinence (UI) in hospitalized elders. This article reviews the consequences and etiologies of UI with an emphasis on the most common types of UI encountered in the acute hospital setting. Assessment parameters and care strategies are highlighted; a nursing standard of practice protocol also is included.

Purpose: To examine the relationship between self-blame and illness adjustment in women with breast cancer.
Design: Descriptive, correlational design.
Setting: Outpatient facilities of two metropolitan medical centers.
Purpose/objectives: The purpose of this study was to determine whether the reading level of educational materials for patients with cancer corresponds to the reading abilities of a sample of patients. A secondary aim was to describe what type of educational materials patients with cancer report as most helpful.
