Introduction And Hypothesis: Currently, little is known about how daily self-management of cube pessaries influences sexual function. We hypothesized that removing the cube pessary prior to sexual activity did not negatively influence the sexual function, and pessary self-care did not lead to a deterioration of sexual wellbeing.
Methods: We conducted a planned secondary analysis of a prospective cohort study in which 214 patients with symptomatic pelvic organ prolapse (stage 2+) were enrolled (2015).

Phosphoglucomutase 1 (PGM1) deficiency is recognized as the third most common N-linked congenital disorders of glycosylation (CDG) in humans. Affected individuals present with liver, musculoskeletal, endocrine, and coagulation symptoms; however, the most life-threatening complication is the early onset of dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM). Recently, we discovered that oral D-galactose supplementation improved liver disease, endocrine, and coagulation abnormalities, but does not alleviate the fatal cardiomyopathy and the associated myopathy.

Accumulating evidence are available on the involvement of l-arginine-nitric oxide (NO) system in complex biological processes and numerous clinical conditions. Particular attention was made to reveal the association of l-arginine and methylarginines to outcome measures of women undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF). This review attempts to summarize the expression and function of the essential elements of this system with particular reference to the different stages of female reproduction.

Introduction And Hypothesis: Loss of anatomical support for the pelvic organs results in pelvic organ prolapse (POP). We hypothesized that daily self-management of a cube pessary might be a safe, feasible long-term treatment in women with symptomatic POP.
Methods: A cohort of 214 symptomatic POP patients (stage 2+) were enrolled prospectively (January to December 2015).

Aims: In this observational study, we investigated whether specialized care improves outcomes for acute pancreatitis (AP).
Methods: Consecutive patients admitted to two university hospitals with AP were enrolled in this study between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2016 (Center A: specialized center; Center B: general hospital). Data on demographic characteristics and AP etiology, severity, mortality and quality of care (enteral nutrition and antibiotic use) were extracted from the Hungarian Acute Pancreatitis Registry.

Introduction: Hemorheological factors play an important role in the pathomechanism of ischemic cerebrovascular disorders. Abnormal rheological conditions in patients with chronic cerebrovascular disease predispose for recurrent strokes. Vinpocetine (VP), a synthetic ethyl esther of apovincamine, has successfully been used in the treatment of cerebrovascular diseases, in part because of its favourable rheological effects.

The purpose of this study was to compare the radiographic results of 2 different glenoid component designs. This series consisted of 66 shoulder arthroplasties with primary osteoarthritis divided into 2 groups based on glenoid component type. One group comprised shoulders receiving cemented flat-back polyethylene glenoid implants.

We compared the prevalence of periglenoid radiolucencies between two glenoid component preparation techniques used in total shoulder arthroplasties. Seventy-two consecutive patients with primary osteoarthritis had total shoulder arthroplasties using one prosthetic system with flat-back keeled polyethylene glenoid components. Thirty-seven shoulders had glenoid implants that were cemented after standard curettage preparation of the keel slot.

Hemorheological disturbances may occur in more than 40% of patients with ischemic cerebrovascular diseases. In this study the changes of rheological factors--hematocrit, plasma fibrinogen concentration, whole blood and plasma viscosity, red blood cell aggregation and deformability were investigated in 297 patients (173 males, 124 females, mean age 60 +/- 11 years) with transient ischemic attack or chronic phase (> 3 months after onset) ischemic stroke, and in 73 healthy volunteers (35 males, 38 females, mean age 38 +/- 7 years). Hematocrit, plasma and whole blood viscosity were significantly (p < 0.

Introduction And Objective: Haemorrheological parameters and endothelial function are known to be altered in vascular diseases, including stroke. Treatment with HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors ('statins') improves cerebrovascular (and cardiovascular) morbidity and mortality in patients with atherosclerosis; the beneficial effects may involve lipid-independent mechanisms. The aim of this study was to assess the short-term effect of low-dose atorvastatin on haemorrheological parameters, platelet aggregation and endothelial dysfunction in patients with chronic cerebrovascular disease and hyperlipidaemia.

Pathologic hemorheological parameters and increased platelet aggregation in association with other risk factors significantly increase the possibility of the development of myocardial ischemia. Hemorheological parameters and platelet aggregation were investigated in 157 patients (mean age: 65+/-12 years) with acute coronary syndromes and in 68 healthy subjects (mean age: 36+/-6 years). Plasma fibrinogen, plasma and whole blood viscosity, red blood cell aggregation and filterability and platelet aggregation were measured in the hospital phase (after admission, on 2nd and 6th days) and monitored after discharge (at 1, 6 and 12 months).

Oxygen free radicals play an important role in several physiologic and pathophysiologic processes. In pathophysiologic circumstances they can modify and damage biologic systems. Their functional properties (exposed to high oxygen tension) place red blood cells among the most susceptible cells to the harmful effect of free radicals.

Red blood cell (RBC) aggregation is an important component of whole blood viscosity, especially at low shear rates, and is the major cause of the non-Newtonian flow properties of normal blood. In different laboratories several methods are used to determine RBC aggregation, therefore the standardization of aggregation measurements is especially important for getting comparable results. Aggregation indices of 62 human blood samples were determined by two different methods; LORCA (Laser-assisted Optical Rotational Cell Analyzer) and Myrenne aggregometers and related to plasma fibrinogen concentration.

Previous reports have suggested that non-ionic poloxamer surfactants of appropriate molecular mass and composition can reduce red blood cell (RBC) aggregation in whole blood and in RBC-plasma suspensions. We have thus evaluated this phenomenon for RBC aggregated by several water-soluble polymers, using poloxamer 188 (P188), a non-ionic, tri-block molecule (total molecular mass of 8.40 kDa, 80% polyoxyethylene).
