Eosinophilic-related clinical manifestations are protean and the underlying conditions underpinning eosinophilia are highly diverse. The etiological workup of unexplained eosinophilia/hypereosinophilia can be challenging, and can lead sometimes to extensive, inappropriate, costly and/or invasive investigations. To date, guidelines for the etiological workup and management of eosinophilia are mainly issued by hematologists, and thus mostly cover the scope of clonal hypereosinophilic syndromes (HES).

Cancer progression is driven in part by genomic alterations. The genomic characterization of cancers has shown interpatient heterogeneity regarding driver alterations, leading to the concept that generation of genomic profiling in patients with cancer could allow the selection of effective therapies. Although DNA sequencing has been implemented in practice, it remains unclear how to use its results.

Calcium isotopic ecology of Turkana Basin hominins.

Nat Commun

July 2020

CNRS, ENSL, LGL-TPE, Univ Lyon, Univ Lyon 1, F-69007, Lyon, France.

Diet is a major driver of hominin evolution, but most of the geochemical evidence relies on carbon isotopes (δC). Here, we report enamel stable calcium isotope (δCa) values against δC values for several hominins and co-existing primates in the Turkana Basin area, circa 4 to 2 Ma. Australopithecus anamensis clusters with mammal browsers, Kenyanthropus platyops is distinct from A.

Osteoclast-Derived Autotaxin, a Distinguishing Factor for Inflammatory Bone Loss.

Arthritis Rheumatol

November 2019

INSERM UMR 1033 LYOS and University of Lyon I, Lyon, France, and Lyon Sud Hospital, Pierre-Bénite, France.

Objective: The severity of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) correlates directly with bone erosions arising from osteoclast (OC) hyperactivity. Despite the fact that inflammation may be controlled in patients with RA, those in a state of sustained clinical remission or low disease activity may continue to accrue erosions, which supports the need for treatments that would be suitable for long-lasting inhibition of OC activity without altering the physiologic function of OCs in bone remodeling. Autotaxin (ATX) contributes to inflammation, but its role in bone erosion is unknown.

I can't reach it! Focus on theta sensorimotor rhythm toward a better understanding of impaired action-perception coupling.

Neuroscience

December 2016

University of Nantes, Laboratory "Motricité, Interactions, Performance" (UPRES EA 4334), F-44000 Nantes, France. Electronic address:

It is known that anxiety (ANX) impairs action-perception coupling. This study tests whether this impairment could be associated with an alteration of the sensorimotor function. To this aim, the cortical activities underlying the sensorimotor function were recorded in twelve volunteers in a reach-to-grasp paradigm, in which the level of ANX and the position of a glass were manipulated.

The purpose of this study was to test how the sensory modality of rhythmic stimuli affects the production of bimanual coordination patterns. To this aim, participants had to synchronize the taps of their two index fingers with auditory and visual stimuli presented separately (auditory or visual) or simultaneously (audio-visual). This kind of task requires two levels of coordination: (1) sensorimotor coordination, which can be measured by the mean asynchrony between the beat of the stimulus and the corresponding tap and by mean asynchrony stability, and (2) inter-manual coordination, which can be assessed by the accuracy and stability of the relative phase between the right-hand and left-hand taps.

An enhanced experimental procedure to rationalize on the impairment of perception of action capabilities.

March 2016

Laboratory "Motricité, Interactions, Performance" (UPRES EA 4334), University of Nantes, 25 bis boulevard Guy Mollet, BP 72206, 44322, Nantes Cedex 3, France.

It is well documented that changes in the physiological states of the perceiver-actor influence the perception of action capabilities. However, because experimental procedures of most studies involved a limitless availability for stimuli visual encoding and perceptual strategies, it remains difficult to adopt a single position among the large range of alternative interpretations for impaired perception. A reaching-to-grasp paradigm under breathing restriction was adapted from Graydon et al.

Gibbon genome and the fast karyotype evolution of small apes.

Nature

September 2014

Human Genome Sequencing Center, Department of Molecular and Human Genetics, Baylor College of Medicine, One Baylor Plaza, Houston, Texas 77030, USA.

Gibbons are small arboreal apes that display an accelerated rate of evolutionary chromosomal rearrangement and occupy a key node in the primate phylogeny between Old World monkeys and great apes. Here we present the assembly and analysis of a northern white-cheeked gibbon (Nomascus leucogenys) genome. We describe the propensity for a gibbon-specific retrotransposon (LAVA) to insert into chromosome segregation genes and alter transcription by providing a premature termination site, suggesting a possible molecular mechanism for the genome plasticity of the gibbon lineage.
