Purpose: As new evidence is available, the International Late Effects of Childhood Cancer Guideline Harmonization Group has updated breast cancer surveillance recommendations for female survivors of childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer.

Methods: We used evidence-based methods to apply new knowledge in refining the international harmonized recommendations developed in 2013. The guideline panel updated the systematic literature review, developed evidence summaries, appraised the evidence, and updated recommendations on the basis of evidence, clinical judgement, and consideration of benefits versus the harms of the surveillance interventions while attaining flexibility in implementation across different health care systems.

Contribution of annexin A1 to anticancer immunosurveillance.

Oncoimmunology

August 2019

Institut de Cancérologie, Gustave Roussy Cancer Campus (GRCC), Villejuif, France.

Mouse cancers lacking the expression of annexin A1 (ANXA1) fail to respond to immunogenic chemotherapies. This has been initially explained by the requirement of extracellular ANXA1 (which is released from dying cancer cells) to engage formyl peptide receptor-1 (FPR1) on dendritic cells (DC) for the establishment of corpse/DC synapses. Here, we show that ANXA1-deficent cancer cells exhibit a defect in the exposure of calreticulin (CALR), which is an important "eat-me" signal, facilitating the phagocytic uptake of dead-cell antigens by DC.

Is gene panel sequencing more efficient than clinical-based gene sequencing to diagnose autoinflammatory diseases? A randomized study.

Clin Exp Immunol

January 2021

Department of Medical Genetics, Rare Diseases and Personalized Medicine, Rare and Autoinflammatory Diseases Unit, CHU Montpellier, Univ Montpellier, Montpellier, France.

The aim of this study was to compare the effectiveness of the gene-panel next-generation sequencing (NGS) strategy versus the clinical-based gene Sanger sequencing for the genetic diagnosis of autoinflammatory diseases (AIDs). Secondary goals were to describe the gene and mutation distribution in AID patients and to evaluate the impact of the genetic report on the patient's medical care and treatment. Patients with AID symptoms were enrolled prospectively and randomized to two arms, NGS (n = 99) (32-55 genes) and Sanger sequencing (n = 197) (one to four genes).

Ionizing radiation induces genomic instability in living organisms, and several studies reported an ageing-dependent radiosensitivity. Chemical compounds, such as scavengers, radioprotectors, and modifiers, contribute to reducing the radiation-associated toxicity. These compounds are often antioxidants, and therefore, in order to be effective, they must be present before or during exposure to radiation.

Objective: Health risk behaviors (HRB) of childhood cancer survivors (CCS) are generally studied separately, despite the evidence suggesting that HRB are not independent. To our knowledge, few studies have examined HRB profiles in the former pediatric cancer patients. In this study, we identified HRB profiles and examined predictors engaging in unhealthy behaviors in CCS.

A few weeks after the peak of the global 2019 novel coronavirus disease pandemic, cases of shock, multisystem inflammation and severe myocarditis have occurred in children and adolescents, generating some concerns and above all many questions. An almost immediate association raised with shock syndrome related to Kawasaki disease (KD). However, in light of bo/th experience and literature have taught us about severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV-2) infection, and what already known on the epidemiology of KD, we suggest here the hypothesis of a new 'post-viral' systemic inflammatory disease related to excessive adaptive immune response rather than a form of KD caused by SARS-COV-2.

Several cases of fatal enterocolitis have been described in association with the use of docetaxel (DTX), and this increase in adverse events has been concomitant with a change in formulation. Indeed in 2010, a new DTX-based presentation has been introduced in the form of a single ready-to-use vial by Sanofi-Aventis, presentation also used for generics. In this study, different available formulations were compared (Sanofi 2 vials, Sanofi 1 vial, Accord Healthcare, Kabi, Hospira) in terms of composition compliance with control specifications and simulated micelle behaviour to try to determine what could be the potential causes of this problem.

Female childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors have an increased risk of adverse pregnancy outcomes related to their cancer- or treatment-associated sequelae. Optimal care for childhood, adolescent, and young adult cancer survivors can be facilitated by clinical practice guidelines that identify specific adverse pregnancy outcomes and the clinical characteristics of at-risk subgroups. However, national guidelines are scarce and vary in content.
