Droplet-based microfluidics techniques coupled to microscopy allow for the characterization of cells at the single-cell scale. However, such techniques generate substantial amounts of data and microscopy images that must be analyzed. Droplets on these images usually need to be classified depending on the number of cells they contain.

Nontargeted screening (NTS) utilizing liquid chromatography electrospray ionization high-resolution mass spectrometry (LC/ESI/HRMS) is increasingly used to identify environmental contaminants. Major differences in the ionization efficiency of compounds in ESI/HRMS result in widely varying responses and complicate quantitative analysis. Despite an increasing number of methods for quantification without authentic standards in NTS, the approaches are evaluated on limited and diverse data sets with varying chemical coverage collected on different instruments, complicating an unbiased comparison.

Introduction: A clear immune correlate of protection from severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) infection has not been defined. We explored antibody, B-cell, and T-cell responses to the third-dose vaccine and relationship to incident SARS-CoV-2 infection.
Methods: Adults in a prospective cohort provided blood samples at day 0, day 14, and 10 months after the third-dose SARS-CoV-2 vaccine.

Background: Cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is a major global contributor to death and disability. As part of its medical management, researchers have recognized the importance of promising neuroprotective strategies, where stem cell transplantation (SCT) is thought to confer advantages trophic and neuroprotective effects.
Aim: To evaluate the current state of research on SCT in patients with CVA, assess key trends and highlight literature gaps.

Hypothesis: Acoustic levitation is a suitable approach for studying processes occurring at the gas-liquid interfaces, as it allows its investigation in a contact-free manner while providing control over the gas phase. Here, we hypothesize that phase transitions induced by a CO rich atmosphere can be examined, at different length scales, in a contact-free manner.
Experimental: A system consisting of 12-hydroxysteric acid (HSA) soaps mixed with different ratios of monoethanolamine (MEA) and choline hydroxide, was prepared.

Background: To describe French general practioners' (GPs) adaptation strategies to ensure follow-up care of nursing home patients during the first wave of COVID-19 (May 2020) and to identify factors associated with each strategy.
Methods: A national cross-sectional study was conducted with online questionnaires in May 2020 among GPs practicing in France (metropolitan and overseas) and usually providing nursing home visits before pandemic. The outcome was defined as the GPs' adaptation strategies for managing nursing home patients and was categorized into four groups: Maintenance of Nursing Home Visits NHV (reference), Stopping NHV, Numeric adaptation (teleconsultations only), Mixed adaptation (NHV and teleconsultations).

Background: Hypertension is a major risk factor for ischemic stroke. An important strategy in controlling hypertension is dietary modification. The present study evaluates the effect of Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) diet on the risk of ischemic stroke.

Global trade depends on long-haul transportation, yet comfort for drivers on lengthy trips is sometimes neglected. Rough roads have a major negative influence on driver comfort and increase the risk of weariness, distracted driving, and accidents. Using Random Forest regression, a machine learning technique well-suited to examining big datasets and nonlinear relationships, this study examines the relationship between road roughness and driver comfort.

Background: While parent-delivered pain management has been demonstrated to effectively reduce neonatal procedural pain responses, little is known about to what extent it is utilized. Our aim was to explore the utilization of parents in neonatal pain management and investigate whether local guidelines promote parent-delivered interventions.
Methods: A web-based survey was distributed to neonatal units worldwide.

T-lymphoblastic lymphoma (T-LBL) and thymoma are two rare primary tumors of the thymus deriving either from T-cell precursors or from thymic epithelial cells, respectively. Some thymoma subtypes (AB, B1, and B2) display numerous reactive terminal deoxynucleotidyl transferase-positive (TdT) T-cell precursors masking epithelial tumor cells. Therefore, the differential diagnosis between T-LBL and TdT T-lymphocyte-rich thymoma could be challenging, especially in the case of needle biopsy.

Current clinical interventions for stroke majorly involve thrombolysis or thrombectomy, however, cessation of the progressive deleterious cellular cascades post-stroke and long-term neuroprotection are yet to be explored. Mitochondria are highly vulnerable organelles and their dysfunction is one of the detrimental consequences following stroke. Mitochondria dysregulation activate unfavourable cellular events over a period of time that leads to the collapse of neuronal machinery in the brain.

Explant-based models for assessing HCC recurrence after liver transplantation serve as the gold standard, guiding post-liver transplantation screening and immunosuppression adjustment. Incorporating alpha-fetoprotein (AFP) levels into these models, such as the novel R3-AFP score, has notably enhanced risk stratification. However, validation of these models in high-evidence data is mandatory.

Purpose: Stress shielding in short-stem arthroplasty can cause critical metaphyseal bone loss. If the size and shape of the humeral shaft are important factors, it is unknown whether the shape of the polyethylene component in reverse shoulder arthroplasty (RSA) affects bone stress around or within the stem. We explored the impact of polyethylene shape on humeral and scapular stress distribution using a finite element model.

Refractory multiprincipal element alloys (RMPEAs) are potential successors to incumbent high-temperature structural alloys, although efforts to improve oxidation resistance with large additions of passivating elements have led to embrittlement. RMPEAs containing group IV and V elements have a balance of properties including moderate ductility, low density, and the necessary formability. We find that oxidation of group IV-V RMPEAs induces hierarchical heterogeneities, ranging from nanoscale interstitial complexes to tertiary phases.

Serum triglyceride concentrations increase in dogs with obesity, which is typically assessed by body condition score (BCS), however little is known about changes that take place in non-obese dogs in overweight condition. Further, the associations of triglyceride levels with other markers of energy homeostasis are poorly characterised in healthy animals. The present study aimed to evaluate associations between both BCS and triglyceride concentrations with other markers of lipid and glucose metabolism in healthy, non-obese dogs, as well as to assess whether these markers change significantly in non-obese dogs with overweight as compared to their lean counterparts.
